Disney World has issued more information on the closure.
EPCOT has been under construction, reinvention, or some combination of both for years now. It hasn't gotten the recent headline-grabbing overhauls that Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios have seen, but it's still very much part of Disney's ongoing park-wide refresh. The arrival of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in 2022, the reshaping of World Celebration, and an expansive festival calendar have all changed how the park feels to walk through compared to a few years ago.
That same energy has spilled over into the resort's restaurants. We've seen refurbishments, menu swaps, and hour changes ripple through the park's dining scene as Disney tries to match what guests actually want these days. A handful of locations across Walt Disney World have made these kinds of quiet adjustments recently, too.
Disney's also been leaning on shorter, targeted closures — shutting a restaurant down for a stretch to redo the space, upgrade equipment, or knock out maintenance during a quieter travel period, rather than pulling it offline during a busy stretch. It keeps things running smoothly for guests, even if there's a lot happening that you don't see.
Coral Reef Restaurant, tucked inside The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion, is the latest to go through this cycle — and we now know exactly when it's coming back.
Coral Reef will shut its doors on September 8, 2026. At the time, Disney initially billed it as an extended refurbishment without a firm end date, and the company still hasn't said much about what exactly is being worked on. Refurb, seasonal pause, or a bit of both — hard to say. Either way, the closure ended up lasting about two months, and booking calendars now show Coral Reef reopening its doors on November 4, 2026.
The restaurant will still run on the dinner-only schedule it switched to back on January 4, 2026 — that means seating kicks off at 4 p.m. every day. Lunch hasn't been confirmed to return, so if you're used to grabbing a midday meal there, plan on an evening visit instead for now.
The food itself hasn't changed. Coral Reef's whole identity is built around Florida Coastal Cuisine, which Disney describes as “ocean-fresh specialties and other classic favorites crafted with Florida flair.” Expect a Lobster Bisque to start, then choices like Grilled Snapper, Surf and Turf, or Shrimp Fettuccine, with simpler grilled fish or chicken options for the kids. For dessert, the Key West Sunset and Pineapple Coconut Bread Pudding are both sticking around.
And of course, there's the view — still the main event as far as we're concerned. Coral Reef's dining room looks straight into the enormous saltwater tank at the heart of The Seas, a huge man-made ocean environment, holding roughly 54 Olympic pools' worth of water. About 2,000 animals across 60-plus species — sharks, turtles, rays, and more — glide past while you eat.
With a reopening date locked in, anyone heading to Walt Disney World over the holidays now has a real shot at snagging a table for a coastal-themed dinner with an aquarium view.
