The Disney Jr. meet and greet at Disney's Hollywood Studios is gone. Sofia and Bitsy with it.
Some context.
Look, Hollywood Studios has never been the easy park for little kids. That is not a new complaint and nobody at Disney would pretend otherwise.
The headliners are thrill rides. Rise of the Resistance. Slinky Dog Dash. Tower of Terror. Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster. Smugglers Run. Most come with height requirements, and the ones that do not still skew way older in tone.
So when Disney dropped a Disney Jr. meet and greet in there this summer, it filled a genuine hole. Small kids finally had a reason to be in that park built specifically for them, featuring characters they actually watch at home instead of characters their parents grew up with.
And now it is gone.
What Is Out There Now
The area sat empty when it was checked Friday, September 18.
That bright pink, purple, and orange mural that debuted back in May? Painted blue.
You can still see remnants of the bubble design on the beige wall, plus the indents where a sign used to hang.
The spot is on Commissary Lane near ABC Commissary, right next to Red Carpet Dreams.
Disney has announced no replacement and explained nothing.
What Used to Be There
The whole setup debuted in May and ran through summer.
Sofia and Bitsy alternated throughout the day, swapping out at different times so guests could catch either one depending on when they wandered by.
Genuinely smart use of a tiny footprint. One location, two characters, two completely different audiences, and a built-in reason to come back later if you missed the one your kid wanted.
Who These Two Are
For anybody who does not have a preschooler running around the house.
Sofia comes from Sofia the First, a 3D animated series that ran on Disney Jr. from January 11, 2013 to September 8, 2018. Pilot aired as a one-hour Disney Channel special in November 2012.
Sofia, voiced by Ariel Winter, is a girl from a commoner background who becomes royalty when her mother marries King Roland II.
Show left the air December 2018, came back in reruns November 2020.
Bitsy is one of the protagonists of SuperKitties, a current Disney Jr. series. Smallest and newest on the team, runs around in super speed boots, records every case on her vlog tablet at the end of each episode.
That pairing was hitting two audiences simultaneously. Sofia pulls the kids who found the show through streaming and reruns. Bitsy pulls the kids watching Disney Jr. right now.
Why This One Actually Stings
Meet and greets rotate constantly at Disney. Most removals are completely routine.
This one hits different because of which park it was in.
Hollywood Studios genuinely does not have much for guests under about six. Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! exists. Runaway Railway works for basically everybody. Toy Story Land helps. After that, a family with a four-year-old spends the day dodging height requirements.
A dedicated Disney Jr. spot fixed that directly, using characters kids are actively watching instead of legacy characters they only know off merchandise.
Pulling it drops the park right back where it was in spring.

Okay, But Consider the Timing
Before anybody assumes the worst, there is a reasonable read here.
The Magic of Disney Animation just opened at the Walt Disney Studios Lot this month. Off the Page character meets, the Drawn to Wonderland play area built for young children, an Olaf drawing academy.
That is a serious chunk of family capacity added to the same park.
Disney may have simply consolidated character operations rather than running a standalone Disney Jr. location alongside a brand new indoor attraction that already has its own meets.
Pure speculation. Disney has said absolutely nothing. But the timing is close enough that it deserves mentioning instead of treating this as a straight subtraction.
What Parents Need to Know
Planned around this spot? Here is where things stand.
Commissary Lane is empty and repainted. No word on whether anything comes back.
Red Carpet Dreams is still right there with its own meet and greets.
Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is still running.
And the Magic of Disney Animation now has character encounters across six animation departments plus an indoor play space made for little kids.
The park is not out of options for small children. Those options just relocated.
Watch That Wall
A blank blue wall is not typically how Disney leaves a guest-facing space for long.
Fresh paint plus visible sign mounting points usually means something is coming. Though again, no announcement, no timeline, nothing.
For now Sofia and Bitsy are done meeting guests at Hollywood Studios, and a summer addition that genuinely worked for young families made it about four months.
