Behind the Velvet Rope: Disney Confirms Closure of One of Its Last Late-Night Watering Holes

Walt Disney World’s BoardWalk Resort is in the middle of a major transformation. Across Crescent Lake, sweeping updates have systematically modernized the waterfront promenade’s dining, retail, and entertainment options. Now, Disney has officially confirmed another significant operational shift along the strip: Atlantic Dance Hall is ending its regular public operating schedule.

Starting October 1, 2026, the long-standing nightclub will close its doors to walk-in public guests and transition exclusively into a private event venue. However, night owls and resort visitors will not be left without options. On the exact same day Atlantic Dance Hall pivots to private bookings, Disney will celebrate the grand opening of Hurly-Burly, a brand-new dual-concept lounge and cabaret venue taking over the former Jellyrolls location right next door.

Farewell to Public Operating Hours at Atlantic Dance Hall

For nearly three decades, Atlantic Dance Hall has stood as an architectural icon along Crescent Lake. Modeled after an elegant 1930s coastal dance hall, the two-story venue featured sweeping waterfront views, an expansive dance floor, and a nostalgic atmosphere for late-night resort guests. Operating primarily on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights for guests ages 21 and older, it was one of the few dedicated adult dance venues remaining on Disney property.

Disney’s latest update officially brings that regular public era to an end. The venue will host its final regular public operating nights from September 25 through September 27, 2026. Beginning October 1, 2026, Atlantic Dance Hall will cease all public walk-in operations and transition to an exclusive venue for private events, corporate galas, and weddings.

While the loss of a public nightspot marks a notable shift for long-time visitors, transitioning Atlantic Dance Hall to a full-time private event space allows Disney to meet high demand for event venues near EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Furthermore, Disney is focusing its public entertainment energy on its newest venue right next door.

Spotlight on Hurly-Burly: The BoardWalk’s Newest Lounge

Stepping up to fill the nightlife void—and offering a fresh entertainment concept—Hurly-Burly officially opens on October 1, 2026. Taking over the prominent waterfront space previously occupied by the Jellyrolls dueling piano bar, Hurly-Burly combines vintage 1920s vaudeville charm, daily live entertainment, shareable boardwalk bites, and craft mixology.

1920s Vaudeville Design & Storytelling

The exterior of the building has been completely redesigned with a bright turquoise finish, crisp white trim, and bold red scalloped awnings adorned with golden nautical accents. Over the entrance hangs an illuminated marquee featuring vintage lightbulbs that spell out “HURLY-BURLY”. The backstory imagines the lounge as a restored turn-of-the-century coastal theater that once hosted the BoardWalk's top vaudeville performers.

Dual-Concept Operating Hours

One of Hurly-Burly's defining features is its flexible, two-phase daily operating schedule:

  • Family Lounge (Daily starting at 4:00 p.m.): During the late afternoon and early evening, Hurly-Burly welcomes guests of all ages to relax, play trivia and interactive games, and sample shareable food plates.
  • Adults-Only Cabaret (9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.): At 9:00 p.m., the venue transitions to a strictly adults-only policy for guests ages 21 and older, featuring live musical performances, cabaret acts, and rotating musical genres.

“Drinks Here!” Walk-Up Window

For guests strolling along Crescent Lake, Hurly-Burly features an exterior quick-service drink window marked by a sign reading “Drinks Here!” This window allows passersby to order craft cocktails, draft beers, and specialty beverages on the go.

Menu Highlights & Walk-Up Policy

The food menu features shareable plates like Meatballs in Tomato Gravy, Roast Beef Sliders, Oven-Roasted Shrimp, Tomato Pie, Mini Pretzels with Bacon-Cheese Fondue, and Mini Apple Cider Doughnuts. The cocktail menu spotlights prohibition-era spirits, including “The Mertini,” “Overproof Amaretto Sour,” and “La Taquilla Picante.” The venue operates strictly on a walk-up basis with no reservations required.

What This Means for Future BoardWalk Visitors

The transition of Atlantic Dance Hall and the debut of Hurly-Burly mark the latest milestones in Disney’s ongoing revitalization of Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Alongside recent additions like The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, Disney is modernizing the promenade while preserving its classic seaside charm.
