Disney+ subscribers may notice something different the next time they open the streaming service.
Disney has rolled out a surprise update tied to one of Pixar’s biggest franchises, bringing new customization options to Disney+ at the same time a major 2026 movie joins the streaming library.
The changes arrived alongside the Disney+ debut of Toy Story 5 (2026), which officially began streaming on September 23.
And Disney didn't stop with simply adding the movie.
Toy Story 5 Takes Over Disney+
Subscribers can find the additions within their Disney+ profile settings, where they can replace their current avatar with one of the newly released designs.
But these aren't the traditional versions of the characters.
Woody appears in his poncho, while Jessie wears the sheriff's badge. Buzz has also received an updated look with a gold star stuck to his chest.
The designs connect directly to the characters' appearances surrounding Toy Story 5 (2026). Disney Parks fans may recognize them, too, as the updated costumes debuted at Disney's Hollywood Studios over the summer.
The additions give subscribers another way to customize Disney+ while Disney puts considerable attention on its newest Pixar release.
Disney Makes a Bigger Streaming Push
Of course, the timing of these additions comes down to Toy Story 5 (2026) itself.
The Pixar sequel officially joined Disney+ on September 23, bringing Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Forky, and other familiar characters back together.
The movie introduces a new challenge for the toys when Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, enters Bonnie's life. The arrival of technology threatens to change playtime and forces the toys to confront a very different world.
Tom Hanks returns as Woody, Tim Allen voices Buzz, and Joan Cusack returns as Jessie. Tony Hale also reprises his role as Forky.
Subscribers looking for even more can find the previous four Toy Story movies through the service's franchise collection.
Disney+ also offers Toy Story 30 Years and Beyond – A Special Edition of 20/20, which explores the history of Pixar and the franchise.
With the new movie, additional profile avatars, and an entire collection already available, Disney has turned the streaming arrival into something larger than a standard release.
