Disney World Is Getting Its First Real Cooldown in Months
A cold front is bringing drier air into Central Florida, with temperatures expected to drop Friday night into Saturday morning.
The cooler weather comes after an exceptionally hot summer around Disney World.
By Saturday morning, guests could wake up to temperatures in the 60s. Similar morning conditions are expected through Monday, while daytime highs remain in the 80s.
That combination could create some of the most comfortable park weather guests have experienced in months.
Rain chances are also expected to remain fairly low over the weekend, sitting at 20% or less.
For families who have spent months worrying about intense afternoon heat and frequent summer storms, the forecast could be welcome news.
Early Mornings Could Feel Surprisingly Cool
Disney guests often try to arrive at the parks as early as possible.
That strategy may feel very different this weekend.
Instead of stepping outside their hotel room and immediately feeling Florida's heat and humidity, visitors could encounter temperatures in the 60s.
For someone visiting from a colder part of the country, that may sound perfect.
But guests who have spent several days adjusting to Florida's summer conditions might be surprised by how cool it feels, especially if winds remain noticeable.
A lightweight sweatshirt or jacket could become particularly useful for early morning transportation and waiting outside park entrances.
Guests staying until closing might appreciate having that extra layer again after sunset.
Wind Could Affect the Beginning of the Trip
Before the calmer weekend conditions arrive, guests should also pay attention to the wind.
Northerly winds could reach 15 to 20 mph, with gusts around 30 mph through Friday. A few showers also remain possible.
Stronger wind combined with falling temperatures could make conditions feel cooler than guests expect.
By Saturday, however, conditions should begin settling into a much more pleasant pattern.
That's particularly good news for guests planning full days at the parks.
Cooler Weather Could Change Your Park Strategy
Extreme heat can influence almost every part of a Disney World vacation.
Guests may take longer restaurant breaks, spend additional time inside shops, prioritize indoor attractions, or return to their resort during the hottest part of the afternoon.
With morning temperatures in the 60s and afternoon highs in the 80s, some visitors may feel comfortable staying in the parks longer.
Disney's Animal Kingdom and EPCOT could be particularly pleasant because both parks can involve considerable outdoor walking.
Families may also find that children have more energy when they're not immediately dealing with intense heat.
Guests should still stay hydrated and use sunscreen. Cooler air doesn't eliminate the effects of spending hours outside in Florida.
Don't Completely Change Your Disney Packing List
There's one important catch.
This cooldown doesn't appear likely to last.
Temperatures should begin increasing again next week, eventually reaching the mid-to-upper 80s. Heat index readings could return to the 90s as additional moisture moves back into the region.
Rain chances are expected to increase as well.
Guests spending an entire week at Disney World could therefore experience two very different versions of Florida weather during the same vacation.
The easiest solution is to pack for both.
Keep the shorts, T-shirts, sunscreen, and other warm-weather essentials. Just leave enough room for a sweatshirt or light jacket.
