Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party finally sold out a date.
November 24. Two hundred four dollars. Sold September 28.
Opening night is still sitting there, available, right now.
Some context.
That should not happen. In 2024, opening night was the first date gone, on September 3. In 2025, same thing, gone September 10.
This year the first sellout took until September 28, and it was not opening night. That is 18 days behind last year and 25 behind the year before.
And the season had been going the other direction. Full sellouts hit November 29 in 2023, November 30 in 2024, then all the way up to November 19 in 2025. Faster every year. Until now.
Look At Which Date Sold
This is the part everybody is skipping past.
November 24, 2026 is the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week.
Which means it sold for the most boring reason possible. Enormous numbers of people are already at Walt Disney World that week with an evening to fill. That party is not competing with staying home. It is competing with a regular night at the resort.
Opening night is a completely different animal. Nobody buys opening night by accident. You buy it months out, on purpose, because you want this specific event more than you want the flexibility.
So the pattern flipped. The “we are already here” date sold. The “I love this thing” date did not.
That is a much more specific problem than slow sales.
And Here Is Why
The 2026 party has Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Mickey's Most Merriest Celebration, Frozen Holiday Surprise, seasonal entertainment, characters, free treats, fireworks.
Genuinely good stuff. Also basically the same stuff it has had for years.
Now put $204 on it.
If you have never seen snow fall on Main Street, U.S.A. at Christmas, that is worth every dollar and nobody should talk you out of it. It is one of the best things Disney does.
If this would be your fifth one? You are paying more money, again, for the same show, again.
Guess which group buys opening night.
Halloween Did Not Have This Issue
Sitting right next door for comparison.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party sold out its entire 2026 season before the Christmas party managed to sell out one single night.
Same park. Same hard ticket after hours format. Same company. Wildly different outcome.
So no, people have not turned on ticketed events. This is a Christmas party problem.
Do Not Get Carried Away, Though
Open party tickets do not mean Disney World is having a quiet Christmas. The resort can be absolutely slammed through November and December while one separately ticketed event moves slow. Thanksgiving, Christmas week, and New Year's do their own thing entirely.
It also does not mean these stay available. Sales pick up hard as the first party gets close, and once a couple November dates fall, the rest can go fast. Last year went from mostly open in mid October to completely gone by November 19.
Twenty four dates left, five-plus weeks to go. Plenty of runway.
The One Date to Watch
November 8. Opening night.
Still available in late October? Then this is real, because the people who care most about this party looked at it and passed.
Gone in two weeks? Then it was just a slow start and everybody can relax.
Meanwhile, You Win
Here is the upside nobody mentions.
You have options. Twenty four of 25 nights are open.
That means picking a party night that actually works with your dining reservations and your resort stay, instead of reverse engineering your whole trip around the two dates nobody bought yet.
Anyone who planned a Disney Christmas trip in 2024 or 2025 knows exactly how rare that is.
It will not last through October. It is true today.
