Magic Kingdom visitors will soon have another option when they need a break from rides, crowds and a packed park schedule.
Beginning October 4, The Diamond Horseshoe will take on a new role inside Frontierland. Disney is turning the location into a limited-time pop-up lounge featuring a new menu, drinks and a setting designed to match its surroundings.
The experience isn't permanent, either, which could make it an interesting addition for guests visiting Disney World this fall.
Before the doors open, however, Disney is giving visitors a chance to lock in their plans.
The Booking Window Opens September 29
Reservations begin September 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
Guests will be able to book through the Walt Disney World app or website, giving them several days to make plans before the lounge officially opens October 4.
Anyone with a specific date in mind may want to remember that reservation time.
New Disney World experiences often receive extra attention immediately after opening. That doesn't necessarily mean The Diamond Horseshoe will become impossible to book, but guests shouldn't automatically expect to walk in whenever they want.
The bigger mystery is how long they'll have to experience it.
Disney hasn't revealed an official closing date for the pop-up. The lounge is expected to operate for the coming months, but its limited-time status means this particular version of The Diamond Horseshoe won't necessarily remain part of Magic Kingdom indefinitely.
Small Plates and Drinks Take Center Stage
This also isn't a standard restaurant reopening.
Instead of building the experience around full meals, Disney is creating a lounge where guests can order small plates and drinks.
The beverage lineup will include cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic specialty options.
For some visitors, that may make The Diamond Horseshoe easier to fit into a Magic Kingdom day.
Dining reservations can take up a significant chunk of park time, particularly when guests sit down for a full lunch or dinner. A lounge centered around drinks and smaller dishes provides another option for people who want to rest without turning that break into a major meal.
It could also provide a welcome escape during a long afternoon in the park.
Guests can spend some time inside, try something new and then continue exploring Frontierland and the rest of Magic Kingdom.
Disney Has Already Seen Demand for Lounges
There is also a recent example of how much interest a new Magic Kingdom lounge can generate.
The Beak and Barrel opened as a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed experience in Adventureland and quickly became a difficult reservation to secure. Even more than a year later, finding the right reservation can sometimes require flexibility.
The Diamond Horseshoe won't necessarily follow the same pattern.
The Beak and Barrel has a direct connection to Pirates of the Caribbean and offers its own heavily themed experience. The Diamond Horseshoe pop-up has a different identity, with its Frontierland atmosphere and limited run helping set it apart.
Either way, Disney is giving Magic Kingdom visitors another place to stop during their park day.
Reservations open September 29 at 8 p.m. ET before the October 4 debut. With no closing date announced, guests interested in the experience may want to take advantage of it while they know it's available.
