Disney World refillable mugs are $22.99 plus tax in 2027.
One time. Not daily. And if you are on the Dining Plan, free.
Some context.
You know the routine. Check in, drop the bags, march straight to the food court, everybody picks a design, and by day three, that mug is hanging off a backpack strap like it is part of the outfit.
Fine. But there are rules, and a couple of them will get you.
Where You Buy Them at Disney
Every Disney resort hotel sells them at its main counter-service spot.
Value resorts, check the food court or the attached gift shop. Moderate and Deluxe Resorts, it is the quick-service location.
Do the Math Before You Complain About $22.99
Spread it out.
Seven-night trip? About $3.28 a day. Four nights? Around $5.75. Ten nights? Roughly $2.30.
Now think about a morning coffee plus an afternoon soda. It pays for itself almost immediately, and the longer you stay the more absurd the value gets.
On the Dining Plan, you get one per person in your party. Applies to all three 2027 tiers: Quick-Service, Table-Service, and Deluxe Table-Service. If you are trying to decide whether the Dining Plan is worth it, this is a small but real piece of that math.
Here Is the Rule You Are Not Using
Your mug works at every Disney resort hotel. Not just yours.
Refills cover fountain drinks, coffee, and tea at participating beverage locations across all the resorts.
So think bigger. Riding the monorail loop for fun? Hit the Contemporary, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian. Walking from BoardWalk over to Beach Club? There is a stop on the way. Dining reservation at another resort? Bring the mug.
Most people treat this thing like it is chained to their own food court. It is closer to a property-wide drink pass.
One catch: “participating” is doing real work in that sentence. Look for actual refill stations instead of assuming every beverage counter counts.
The 14-Day Wall
Each mug has an RFID chip, and it stays active for your stay, up to 14 days max.
Day 15, the chip is dead.
This nails a specific crowd. Long stays, back-to-back reservations, and Disney Vacation Club members camped out for a few weeks. You will be buying a second mug at full price.
Budget for it instead of discovering it at a refill station.
Your Old Disney Mugs Are Dead
Sorry.
That shelf of mugs from past trips? The chips deactivated the day those trips ended. Bringing a 2024 mug back in 2027 does not wake it up.
It is still a mug. Drink out of it at home forever. It will not get you free soda.
Want refills on the new trip? New mug. Which is exactly how the collection keeps growing, obviously.
And No, Not in the Disney Parks
Common assumption, completely wrong.
Resort mugs do not work at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. Also not at Disney Springs, Blizzard Beach, or Typhoon Lagoon.
Resort hotels. That is the whole map.
Carry it in as a water bottle if you want. Just do not expect a refill past the turnstile.
Universal Does the Exact Opposite
Worth knowing if your trip hits both.
Universal sells mugs that work with Coca-Cola Freestyle machines at all its theme parks, including Epic Universe and CityWalk.
Those same mugs do not work at Universal's hotels. Each Universal hotel has its own separate Freestyle mug.
So Disney hands you the hotels and blocks the parks. Universal hands you the parks and blocks the hotels. Perfectly inverted.
Splitting a trip between both? You are buying multiple mugs and none of them travel.
So Should You Buy One
Four nights or longer at a Disney resort, and you drink coffee or soda at all? Buy it.
Buy it on arrival day, not day three. The clock runs during your stay regardless.
And actually use the resort-hopping rule. It is the most wasted perk in the whole program and it costs you nothing.
