Another attraction is disappearing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and guests don't have much time left to experience it.
Walt Disney World has confirmed that Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie will temporarily close later this month.
While the attraction isn't leaving permanently, the announcement continues an unusual pattern for the Mickey Shorts Theater. Disney has repeatedly closed the location over the past year, using the space for special events and limited-time offerings.
Now, just weeks after Vacation Fun returned from its latest shutdown, another closure is already approaching.
Vacation Fun Closes October 28
Vacation Fun will temporarily close beginning October 28, 2026, making October 27 the final opportunity to experience the attraction before the shutdown.
Disney has not announced an official reopening date.
The attraction debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in March 2020 and gives guests an opportunity to watch Mickey and Minnie in an original animated adventure.
While it isn't one of the park's massive headliners, Vacation Fun serves a different purpose. It's an indoor attraction where families can sit down, cool off, and enjoy a break from navigating Hollywood Studios.
Soon, that option will disappear again.
Disney hasn't officially explained why Vacation Fun is closing, but its recent history provides a possible answer.
Could Disney Jollywood Nights Be Responsible?
The October 28 date closely follows what happened during the 2025 holiday season.
Vacation Fun closed from late October through late December last year as Disney used the Mickey Shorts Theater as a merchandise location for Disney Jollywood Nights.
Disney hasn't confirmed that the 2026 holiday event is responsible for the new closure. However, the similar timing makes another seasonal transformation a strong possibility.
If Disney follows last year's pattern, Vacation Fun could remain unavailable through the holiday season and potentially into early January 2027.
For now, that remains speculation. Disney has only confirmed when the closure begins, not when the attraction will return.
Another Closure After Reopening in September
This won't be an isolated shutdown.
Vacation Fun has repeatedly disappeared from the Hollywood Studios lineup over the past year as Disney has found other uses for the theater.
After its Disney Jollywood Nights closure in late 2025, the attraction temporarily closed again from April 29 through May 5, 2026, for a Star Wars May the 4th merchandise event.
Another closure began August 9 when Disney used the Mickey Shorts Theater for its Annual Passholder Kermit the Frog magnet distribution.
That shutdown continued through September 27, with Vacation Fun finally reopening September 28.
Exactly one month later, the attraction will close again.
It will mark the fourth time in under a year that the theater has been unavailable because the location was supporting another event or activation.
Guests Don't Have Much Time Left
Guests planning a Disney’s Hollywood Studios visit in October still have an opportunity to catch Vacation Fun before it disappears.
For now, October 27 is the date to remember.
Beginning October 28, the Mickey Shorts Theater will temporarily close with no confirmed reopening date.
If Disney repeats what it did last holiday season, guests visiting during November or December may find the location being used for Disney Jollywood Nights instead.
Vacation Fun isn't gone forever, based on Disney's current announcement. Still, considering how frequently the theater has closed over the past year, guests who want to see Mickey and Minnie's animated adventure may want to catch it while they can.
