Guests heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios on October 6 found an unexpected wrinkle waiting for them.
One of the park's biggest thrill rides wasn't following its normal routine, creating an immediate complication for anyone who planned to make it an early-morning priority.
At first, the situation seemed likely to disrupt what several guests had planned. Disney's published schedule pointed toward a much longer wait before guests would get their chance to ride.
Then the morning took another turn.
An Unusual Operational Change at Hollywood Studios
Disney initially published an 11 a.m. opening time for Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets on October 6.
That immediately stood out because the coaster normally operates much earlier.
Disney's Hollywood Studios offered Early Theme Park Entry beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the park officially opening to all guests at 9 a.m. Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster normally participates in Early Entry, allowing eligible guests to ride before regular operations begin.
That wasn't an option on October 6.
Based on Disney's original schedule, guests would have needed to wait until 11 a.m. That meant missing the entire Early Entry period and an additional 2 hours after the regular park opening.
For guests who arrived early and hoped to head directly toward Sunset Boulevard, that meant a change of plans.
But Disney's original schedule wouldn't tell the whole story.

Yet Another Change Hits Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster
Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets was operating by approximately 9:30 a.m., putting guests on the attraction roughly 90 minutes earlier than Disney's published opening time.
The coaster still missed Early Entry and wasn't ready when Hollywood Studios officially opened at 9 a.m. However, the additional wait lasted only about 30 minutes.
That was much better news for guests who had planned to ride during the morning.
It also provided another example of why Disney World guests may want to continue checking attraction availability even after an attraction appears unavailable earlier in the day.
Why Does This Timing Matter?
Even with the earlier-than-expected opening, the coaster's absence during Early Entry mattered.
Eligible Disney Resort hotel guests and guests staying at select other hotels receive access to Hollywood Studios 30 minutes before the regular park opening. That time can help guests get an early start on popular attractions.
With Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster unavailable, anyone who planned to begin there needed another option.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror sits nearby, while Slinky Dog Dash and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance offer other possibilities elsewhere in the park.
If the 11 a.m. opening had remained in place, guests potentially would have faced an entirely different situation later in the morning as people waited for the coaster to become available.
Instead, Disney began operating it much sooner.

The Muppet Transformation Is Still Fresh
The October 6 interruption also comes less than five months after The Muppets took over the longtime Hollywood Studios coaster.
Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closed on March 2, 2026, ending an era that began in 1999.
Disney retained the existing coaster but introduced a new Muppets theme. Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opened on May 26, 2026.
The Electric Mayhem now drives the attraction's storyline. Guests race through Hollywood as the band attempts to reach its concert.
Despite the major thematic overhaul, the familiar coaster experience remains. Riders still encounter the high-speed launch, indoor track, and inversions that helped make Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster one of Hollywood Studios' biggest thrill rides.
That makes any interruption to its normal operating schedule particularly noticeable.

What Happens From Here
For now, there's no indication that Disney plans to make these later operating hours permanent.
The October 6 schedule appears limited to that particular morning rather than the beginning of a new daily routine for Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
Guests still lost their normal Early Entry opportunity, and anyone relying on Disney's originally published hours had reason to expect an even longer wait.
But the morning ultimately turned out better than expected.
Instead of waiting until 11 a.m., guests were able to ride around 9:30 a.m. That gave them access approximately an hour and a half earlier than Disney's original schedule suggested.
For anyone visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios, the unusual morning also offered a useful reminder. Attraction hours can change, and an unavailable ride at the beginning of the day doesn't necessarily mean it will stay that way for long.
On October 6, the change worked in guests' favor.
