Magic Kingdom has changed dramatically since opening in 1971, but some of its most recognizable locations continue to welcome guests more than five decades later.
While Disney moves forward with major construction projects and new attractions, the company is also making adjustments to existing experiences throughout the park.
Some changes are much bigger than others, but even smaller updates can affect how guests spend their time during a Disney World vacation.

Now, Disney has confirmed four changes coming to a historic Magic Kingdom location, with everything scheduled to take effect on October 28, 2026.
And for visitors who have made this particular location part of their Disney traditions, their next visit could look a little different.
Disney Confirms Four Changes to Historic Magic Kingdom Location
Liberty Square has remained an important part of Magic Kingdom since the park opened on October 1, 1971.
The colonial-themed land features some of Disney's most recognizable experiences, including Haunted Mansion and the Hall of Presidents.
However, the latest announcement doesn't involve either attraction.
Instead, Disney is preparing to update Columbia Harbour House, a popular quick-service restaurant known for its seafood dishes and New England-inspired atmosphere.
According to WDWMAGIC, four new or reimagined menu offerings will arrive at the restaurant on October 28.
The changes include a combination of familiar favorites receiving adjustments and entirely new options.
The four announced dishes are:
-
Beer-Battered Fish Platter
-
Hand-Breaded Shrimp Platter
-
Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich
-
Boston Cream Pie
Although Disney isn't completely replacing the restaurant's menu, the announcement introduces some interesting changes for guests who regularly eat there.
And one of the biggest adjustments involves a familiar seafood favorite.
A Popular Seafood Dish Is Getting an Update
Columbia Harbour House has long offered guests an alternative to the burgers and chicken tenders commonly found throughout Magic Kingdom.
Seafood remains the restaurant's specialty, and that isn't changing.
However, Disney is modifying the preparation of one existing menu item.
The restaurant currently offers a Beer-Battered Shrimp Platter, but beginning October 28, guests will find a Hand-Breaded Shrimp Platter instead.
The adjustment changes how the shrimp are prepared, potentially giving the dish a different texture.
Meanwhile, the Beer-Battered Fish Platter will remain part of the restaurant's offerings as an updated menu selection.

For guests who enjoy traditional fried seafood, both dishes should continue fitting the restaurant's established identity.
However, Disney is also introducing something for visitors who prefer to avoid seafood altogether.
Disney Adds a New Plant-Based Sandwich
One of the most interesting additions is the Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich.
The new offering features a plant-based crab cake served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce.
French fries accompany the sandwich.
Although the dish takes inspiration from a traditional seafood favorite, it provides another meat-free option for guests visiting Magic Kingdom.
This could be especially helpful for families with different dining preferences.
Instead of splitting up to find separate restaurants, guests who prefer plant-based meals will have another choice at Columbia Harbour House.
Disney hasn't provided a complete ingredient breakdown in the announcement, so visitors with specific dietary restrictions should review the official menu before ordering.
Still, the sandwich adds variety to a restaurant that has traditionally focused on fish and shrimp.
And the final change brings something completely different to the table.
A Classic Dessert Is Joining the Menu
Disney is also adding Boston Cream Pie to Columbia Harbour House.
The dessert features layers of yellow cake filled with Boston cream and topped with chocolate ganache.
Despite its name, Boston Cream Pie is actually a cake rather than a traditional pie.
The addition fits the restaurant's New England-inspired setting while giving guests another sweet option after their meals.
For visitors who regularly stop at Columbia Harbour House for lunch or dinner, the dessert could become a new favorite.
Disney hasn't confirmed pricing for the four updated offerings in the announcement.
