Disney World Cuts Off Access to Opening Day Attraction for 63 Days

Many theme parks have rides that guests come back to year after year, and they can start to feel like old friends. That familiarity is part of what makes a seasonal makeover fun. The boat is the same and the route is the same, but suddenly the jokes are different, and the scenery is wearing a holiday outfit.

Overlays like this give a park a way to keep a familiar ride feeling fresh without building something new. For guests who return every season, an overlay can become its own tradition, and for first-timers, it can be a pleasant surprise.

That's the idea behind the Jingle Cruise at Magic Kingdom, and its schedule is now set. As of November 1, Walt Disney World was already in holiday mode, and the overlay on the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland has its start and end dates. Here's what to know before you plan your boat ride.

The Short Version

  • Last day of the original Jungle Cruise before the holidays: Monday, November 2
  • Jingle Cruise begins: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
  • Last day of the Jingle Cruise: Monday, January 4, 2027
  • Jungle Cruise returns: Tuesday, January 5, 2027, when Magic Kingdom opens
  • Official end of the holiday season at Walt Disney World: Wednesday, January 6, 2027

What's Different on Board

Each year, the historic Jungle Cruise becomes the Jingle Cruise, a holiday-themed journey through the Amazon, Congo, Nile, and Mekong Rivers. The punny Skippers work the Most Wonderful Time of the Year into their scripts, and Imagineers install holiday props throughout the attraction and on its audio-animatronics.

The Start Date, Already Confirmed

Walt Disney World's website had already confirmed that the Jingle Cruise would return to Magic Kingdom on November 3, 2026. It operates during regular theme park hours and during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the special-ticketed event on select nights in November and December.

The Newly Posted End Date

The Jingle Cruise webpage at Walt Disney World was recently updated to confirm the last day of the overlay: January 4, 2027. Imagineers will work overnight, and the Jungle Cruise will be back when Magic Kingdom opens on January 5, 2027.

The Calendar, Day by Day

  • Sunday, November 1: Walt Disney World finalizes the schedule.
  • Monday, November 2: Last day of the original Jungle Cruise before the holidays.
  • Tuesday, November 3: The Jingle Cruise begins.
  • Monday, January 4, 2027: Last day of the Jingle Cruise.
  • Tuesday, January 5, 2027: The Jungle Cruise returns.
  • Wednesday, January 6, 2027: The holiday season officially ends.

How Long Is the Run?

Counting November 3 through January 4 gives 63 days, which is exactly nine weeks if you include both days. That fits the description of roughly nine weeks of Jingle Cruise at Magic Kingdom. The count is our own arithmetic, and it's only a way to picture the run.

An Early Exit

The Jingle Cruise leaves two days before the holiday season officially ends at Walt Disney World on January 6, 2027. By these dates, the original ride will be back on January 5, before the season concludes.

Words That Matter

“Finalized” means the full schedule is now set. “Confirmed” refers to the dates on Walt Disney World's website, including the November 3 start and the January 4 end. And “approximately nine weeks” is a round description of the run, which our day count puts at exactly nine weeks when both days are included.

Questions We Can't Answer Yet

The dates above are the schedule as confirmed. We don't have details about operating hours on specific days, whether any individual dates could change, or how queues and ride times will compare between the two versions. Check the official Walt Disney World website and the My Disney Experience app for current information before your visit, since schedules can change. We'd rather tell you what isn't known than guess at ride times or hours, and we'll update this if the schedule shifts.

Picking Your Day

If you want the original Jungle Cruise, your window before the holiday season is through Monday, November 2, and it returns on January 5. If you want the Jingle Cruise, plan for any day from November 3 through January 4. The overlay runs for that whole stretch, and nothing in the schedule singles out one date as better than another.

If your trip lands right at either edge, double-check the date. A visit on November 2 or January 5 puts you on the original ride, and a visit on November 3 or January 4 puts you on the holiday version. Guests visiting for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will find the overlay running during the event, in addition to regular park hours.

A Planner's Note

Here's the whole season in one sentence: the original Jungle Cruise runs through November 2, the Jingle Cruise runs from November 3 through January 4, and the original returns on January 5. Everything else, including exact hours, is worth confirming closer to your trip.
