Would Walt Disney Recognize the Current Magic Kingdom?  7 Things To Consider

3.  Fantasyland

Walt might not recognize this New Fantasyland.  The entrance through the Castle would feel familiar, and the sight of the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel under the multi-colored medieval tent would certainly take his breath away.  This carousel is larger and more ornately decorated, and has more elaborately decorated horses, and I think Walt would appreciate this grand addition to the Magic Kingdom.  Around the corner, Walt would probably stop in his tracks at the sight of this new and amazing Fantasyland.  He would probably wonder where a few missing attractions were, like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Snow White’s Scary Adventure, Alice in Wonderland, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and would definitely wonder where the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the Skyway were.  He would probably walk right past the Small World attraction, because here it is an indoor ride.  The entire area which once was Mermaid Lagoon with a submarine attraction is now filled with new rides and attractions, like The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Journey of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Be Our Guest Restaurant, the Beast’s Castle, Gaston’s Tavern, Dumbo’s Storybook Circus, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and the whole look of the New Fantasyland would be all new to him, and I know he would love the changes, except for It’s A Small World, the Skyway ride, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride.  I can’t help thinking he would not recognize Fantasyland with all the new additions, and the loss of original rides, but I think he would be very impressed with the changes.

I am a working mother of four adult children, 2 granddogs, and one grandcat. I have been a Disney fanatic since 1959, when my parents took my sister and I on a journey across the country to Disneyland. Needless to say, we were thrilled, and this became our vacation destination for the next 10 years. Later, when Walt Disney World was opened, we travelled to Florida and discovered a whole new Disney experience, and WDW became our new vacation destination. Now, our extended family members are all Disney Fanatics and always ready to talk about anything Disney.
