Not such a long time ago, in a themed land far, far away (unless you live in or near Florida)ā€¦

The hype for ā€˜The Rise of Skywalkerā€™ is over. But there has been an awakening at Disney World. Construction on Batuuā€™s second signature attraction Star Wars: Rise of The Resistance is open to all. Meanwhile, visitors who have already braved Millennium Falcon: Smugglerā€™s Run are returning to the faraway galaxy to help the Resistance battle the relentless First Order. Those who have yet to visit Galaxyā€™s Edge are also being asked to join the fight!

6. About The Ride

Rise of the Resistance Animatronics

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a massive attraction. But itā€™s perhaps also one of the most complex in Disney World. With four interconnecting ride systems that combine a trackless journey, a walk-through, a simulator and a drop, youā€™ve never experienced anything quite like it. From start to finish the attraction is also bursting with life. State-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics, impressive set pieces and holographic technology await. And to add that finishing touch, thereā€™s also the gloriously iconic score composed by the legendary John Williams himself.

5. Itā€™s More Than Just A Ride

While the likes of impressive Audio-Animatronics, set pieces, actors and scores help bring an attraction to life, it would be nothing without an engaging story to thread all of those things together. And it wouldnā€™t be a ā€˜Star Warsā€™ attraction without high stakes either. The Resistance need your assistance. Head over to Black Spire Outpost and undertake a secret mission. But when youā€™re captured by a First Order Star Destroyer, where youā€™ll meet Kylo Ren and his First Order Troopers, donā€™t worry ā€“ youā€™ll have the likes of Rey and BB-8 on your side!

4. The Environment Is Out Of This World

Rise of the Resistance

To describe the attractionā€™s environment and all its detail as anything short of striking would be punishable by a drop into a sarlac! As you traverse the varied path of this complex attraction, youā€™ll be immersed into settings made famous by Disneyā€™s sequel trilogy. Marvel as gargantuan AT-ATs tower over you in the dark, and as legions of First Order Troopers assemble for battle. Youā€™ll be caught up in battle yourself, witness epic space fights and even meet Rey in hologram-form, as well as General Hux and Kylo Ren in the flesh!

3. The Circle Is Complete

With Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance open, Star Wars: Galaxyā€™s Edge is officially complete. With two signature attractions and a variety of eateries and merchandise outlets to choose from, Batuu really does feel like a living, breathing world. But with that said, there are bound to be more additions in the coming years. One that we do know about ā€“ though it will actually be located near Disneyā€™s Hollywood Studios ā€“ is the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, set for launch in 2021.

2. Itā€™s Family-Friendly

An all-new attraction means an all-new adventure. And an adventure is nothing without loud noises, drops and the odd slice of darkness (but donā€™t forget ā€“ darkness rises and light to meet it). ā€˜Star Warsā€™ is aimed at kids and adults alike, and so to no surprise so are the attractions. This one in particular welcomes all ā€“ younglings, Padawans and Jedi Masters. Except for Baby Yodas. Naturally, thereā€™s a height restriction, while others may be frightened by the loud noises and special effects. But thereā€™s no better adventure to share with your fellow Resistance Fighters!

1. Star Wars: Datapad Gives You ā€˜Unlimited Powerā€™

Waiting in line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance doesnā€™t need to be boring. In fact, thereā€™s plenty to marvel at even without the Play Disney Parks mobile app. But while youā€™re in line, you may as well use it and turn wait time into play time with Star Wars: Datapad. With this powerful app youā€™ll feel like youā€™re wielding the Force itself – if of course the Force allowed you to choose a side, gather intelligence, take on missions and hack transmissions. Yes, yes, we know, we know ā€“ ā€œthatā€™s not how the Force worksā€. Donā€™t miss the exhilarating intergalactic experience that is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Download the Play Disney Parks mobile app to prepare for battle, and visit our very own Authorized Disney Vacation Planner Mickey Travels to sign up to the Resistance.

The hype for the final movie in the saga might finally be over, but your real ā€˜Star Warsā€™ adventure is yet to begin. So leave all that ā€˜missingā€™ to the Storm Troopers ā€“ itā€™s what they do best! And to half-quote Emperor Palpatine, ā€œlong have you waited for thisā€ā€¦
