Walt Disney World resorts are built around comfort as much as theming. After long days in the Florida heat, guests expect to return to air-conditioned rooms, cool lobbies, and indoor spaces that provide relief from the weather outside.

That expectation is currently being tested at more than one Disney property.
Over the past several days, guests staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village have reported intermittent or reduced air conditioning performance in parts of the resort. At the same time, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge continues working through a separate but ongoing HVAC issue that has been affecting portions of the property since last week.
While Disney has not publicly linked the two situations or issued a broad operational statement, the timing has raised attention among visitors during one of the hottest stretches of the summer season in Central Florida.
Reports of Warm Room Conditions at Kidani Village

Guest reports emerging from Kidani Village on June 23 suggest that air conditioning systems may not have been functioning normally in some areas of the resort during the evening hours.
One guest staying at the property shared their experience on social media, noting that room temperatures were rising while common areas that typically feel cooler were also warmer than expected.
The guest wrote:
“Staying at Kidani and watching the room thermostat climb to 78, hallways and lobby which are usually very cool feel warm. Hope it’s not another Wilderness Lodge situation.”
Later updates indicated that Cast Members had confirmed HVAC issues affecting the resort.
“Spoke to the front desk and yes the AC has been down this afternoon/evening. No ETA on a fix, engineers are working on it.”
By later in the evening, the same guest reported that the system remained offline and that fans were being distributed upon request to help mitigate discomfort.
“Still down. They are offering small box fans upon request to rooms.”
While temporary cooling equipment is sometimes used during maintenance events, the presence of fans and lack of a restoration timeline typically suggests a broader system issue rather than routine adjustment.
Guest Discussion Reflects Broader Concern

As details of the situation circulated, other Disney guests reacted with concern, particularly given the simultaneous issues reported at Wilderness Lodge.
Some expressed disappointment that the problem was not isolated, while others questioned whether extreme weather conditions in Orlando could be contributing to HVAC strain across multiple properties.
One guest commented, “That is disappointing. I would have hoped WL was a unique situation.”
Another noted, “If it continues to spread… Disney has a bit of a problem on its hands…”
Additional discussion focused on technical reliability and environmental stress factors, with some guests pointing out that recent heat conditions in Central Florida have been especially intense, with prolonged sun exposure and limited cooling relief between storm systems.
While these observations remain anecdotal, they reflect the way guests are interpreting the situation in real time.
Wilderness Lodge Continues Extended Cooling System Work
The reports at Kidani Village come as Disney’s Wilderness Lodge continues addressing its own HVAC challenges.
The issue at Wilderness Lodge was first reported last week and has persisted through a series of maintenance efforts and partial system adjustments. Guests have described elevated indoor temperatures in guest rooms, hallways, and public spaces, particularly during peak afternoon heat.
At one point during the ongoing work, Disney reportedly shut down air conditioning service temporarily during morning hours to allow maintenance teams to complete repairs.
During that period, guests were informed that cooling would be unavailable while technicians worked to stabilize the system.
In response, Disney has reportedly deployed temporary cooling measures in parts of the resort, including portable units and fans in common areas.
Some guests have also reported being offered relocation options or compensation in certain cases, including transfers to other Disney resorts such as Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
Temporary Cooling Solutions Visible On-Site
At Wilderness Lodge, guests have observed visible equipment in select areas of the resort, including portable air conditioning units positioned in lobbies and common spaces.
Although they can help improve conditions locally, they do not always replicate the consistent cooling provided by fully operational building systems.
The Role of Extreme Weather in Guest Experience

Central Florida’s summer climate places consistent demand on cooling systems across all hospitality environments, particularly during extended periods of high heat.
Daytime temperatures regularly reach the mid-to-upper 90s, with humidity increasing the perceived temperature even further. During peak conditions, indoor cooling systems become essential not only for comfort but for maintaining a stable environment for guests and staff.
When HVAC systems experience disruptions during these periods, even temporary ones, the impact is quickly felt throughout a property.
This is particularly relevant at Disney Deluxe Resorts such as Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge, where guests often spend significant time indoors between park visits.
Guest Stay Experience and Operational Impact
For Walt Disney World visitors, resort accommodations are an integral part of the overall vacation experience. Rooms and public areas serve as rest spaces, dining locations, and recovery zones between long park days.
As a result, any disruption to temperature control can significantly affect how guests experience their stay.
At both Kidani Village and Wilderness Lodge, guests have reported adjusting their routines, spending more time outside of rooms or seeking cooler areas within the resorts where possible.
Dining operations and guest services have also seen indirect impacts at times, particularly when maintenance work overlaps with peak occupancy periods.
Ongoing Monitoring and Guest Expectations
At this time, neither situation has been officially described by Disney as part of a wider resort-wide HVAC issue. Instead, both appear to be isolated operational challenges occurring during a period of extreme seasonal heat.
Still, guests with upcoming reservations at either property may want to stay informed and monitor updates as their travel dates approach.
In situations where cooling systems are affected, conditions can evolve quickly depending on repair progress, equipment availability, and environmental factors.
What This Means for Upcoming Visits
For travelers planning stays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge in the coming weeks, flexibility may be important.
While both resorts remain operational, HVAC performance is a key part of the guest experience during summer travel in Florida. Temporary disruptions, even when managed with portable cooling solutions, can change how guests experience their rooms and common areas.
As repair efforts continue, guests are encouraged to stay in contact with Disney before arrival if they have concerns about accommodations or comfort levels.
For now, visitors across multiple resorts are watching for updates while hoping for full restoration of cooling systems ahead of peak summer travel demand.
