Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was recently halted after a technical issue sent thousands of gallons of water flooding onto guests. The malfunction soaked many park-goers who expected nothing more than a splash.
Fantasmic! has been a cornerstone of Walt Disney World Resort entertainment for over 26 years. The show first premiered at Disneyland Park in 1992, and a version of it was later introduced at Tokyo DisneySea. As an iconic Disney attraction, Fantasmic! has seen its fair share of issues. In 2023, the Disneyland Park version was famously affected by a fire that damaged the Maleficent dragon animatronic. The show later reopened without the iconic dragon, and guests continue to flock to see the nighttime spectacular.
Walt Disney World Resort’s Fantasmic! recently experienced a different problem. During a performance last month, some water sprayers malfunctioned and mistakenly soaked guests in the audience instead of the show area.
One theme park guest, TikTok user @xoerynnn, posted a video shortly after the show had to be stopped, sharing her frustration over what she described as the “ruining” of her Fantasmic! experience. She wrote, “POV: Your FIRST ever Fantasmic experience is ruined minutes into the show due to guests being sprayed in the face with thousands of gallons of water uncontrollably.”

The technical mishap led to an exodus of guests from the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre. Other guests who were present shared their experiences in the comments.
“I was in the front row, right in the center,” said @carriem249. “Not gonna lie, the water felt good after a long, hot park day!”
Meanwhile, another guest, @kidcarbonx, recounted the moment the show was abruptly ended, saying, “Mickey didn’t do his ending so my friends were like… that’s it?”
While the issue certainly left many guests disappointed, it appears that the situation was quickly addressed. Walt Disney World Resort rarely comments on minor technical malfunctions, but the Fantasmic! show has resumed normal operations since the incident. As with many technical issues during live performances, the cause remains unclear, but the show’s disruption seems to have been a temporary blip on the radar.
