Dancing With the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro recently faced a mishap while at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Central Florida. The incident took place during the filming of an ABC holiday special on Main Street, U.S.A., where Ribeiro was performing a dance routine alongside co-host and professional dancer Julianne Hough.
While recording the segment, Ribeiro accidentally rolled his ankle over a trolley rail, an incident that occurred in front of hundreds of onlookers. Video footage of the scene shows Ribeiro leaning heavily on Hough for support before several production crew members rushed to assist him. According to TMZ, the situation escalated briefly, as Ribeiro was later seen in a wheelchair and even vomited into a nearby trash can along the famous Magic Kingdom walkway.
Despite the scare, fans of the beloved actor and host can breathe a sigh of relief. “Sources close to Alfonso tell TMZ … the ankle injury is indeed minor, and he’s returning to production today to finish the special,” TMZ reported. Additionally, Ribeiro plans to continue with his packed schedule, including filming the 500th episode of Dancing With the Stars the following Tuesday.
Known for his iconic portrayal of Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Ribeiro has charmed audiences for decades with his wit and memorable dance moves. His famed “Carlton Dance” became a pop culture phenomenon during his time on the show alongside Will Smith. In 2014, he claimed victory on Dancing With the Stars with partner Witney Carson and later served as a guest judge on the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and 2019. Now, he co-hosts Dancing With the Stars with Julianne Hough after taking over from Tyra Banks for Season 32.
The Christmas special, which includes appearances from an array of celebrities, is set to air on ABC and Disney+ on Christmas Day. The holiday season at Disney World always draws huge crowds, and events like these tapings are a big attraction.
