2. History:
The Walt Disney World Railroad opened on October 1, 1971. This was the same day that the Magic Kingdom opened for the fist time! Believe it or not, the Walt Disney World Railroad is one of the busiest steam-powered trains in the world. Over 3 million passengers ride on the train every year! The locomotives were actually found in Mexico and brought to the U.S. in 1969, for refurbishment. The Walt Disney World Railroad was the first Magic Kingdom attraction completed and has been running since that opening day in 1971.
