Violent Encounter Reported at Magic Kingdom on July 20, Two Rides Closed

A battery call brought law enforcement to the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Contemporary Resort area on Monday. Two rides at the original Central Florida Disney park were closed around the time of the incident.

At 3:38 p.m. on July 20, the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a battery incident in the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Contemporary Resort area. Scanner monitoring account @WDWActiveCrime shared the dispatch on X (formerly known as Twitter):

🚨: Battery (Unwanted Touching or Striking Someone) at 📍: Magic Kingdom / Contemporary Resort Area

The Google Maps pin attached to the alert reflects the generalized address the Orange County Sheriff's Office uses to track calls in the Magic Kingdom and Contemporary Resort corridor — meaning the incident could have occurred inside Magic Kingdom Park, at Disney's Contemporary Resort, or along the walkway connecting the two. The precise location hasn't been confirmed.

How many guests were involved and whether anyone sustained serious injuries are both unknown at this time. Neither Walt Disney World Resort nor the Orange County Sheriff's Office has issued any statement about the incident. Additional details may emerge if a police report is filed or criminal charges follow.

A Pair of Attraction Closures the Same Afternoon

Pirates of the Caribbean and Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid are currently marked as temporarily closed at Magic Kingdom Park.

Guests at Magic Kingdom Park on Monday afternoon also noticed that Pirates of the Caribbean and Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid were both listed as temporarily closed on the My Disney Experience app. Whether either closure is connected to the battery incident hasn't been established — Disney Park attractions regularly experience routine temporary downtime for unrelated reasons.
