Beloved Parade and Castle Firework Show Both Set to Vanish From Disneyland Calendar

If you’ve been planning to catch Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! during your summer trip to Disney California Adventure, you might want to adjust those plans—fast. All signs are pointing to the parade wrapping up its 2025 run after August 3, as Disney reshuffles its entertainment schedule in preparation for the park’s seasonal offerings.

Where Did the Parade Go?

As of now, Disneyland Resort’s online schedule no longer lists any parade times for Better Together beyond Sunday, August 3. The same cutoff applies to the Pixar Pals Celebration Dessert Party, which currently shows no booking availability beyond that date either. While Disney hasn’t made an official announcement, this is the same pattern that played out last summer, when Better Together paused performances on August 4, 2024.

The parade originally debuted for Pixar Fest in 2024, returned on May 16, 2025 for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, and has been running daily since with performances at 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Why the Pause?

The likely reason for the sudden blackout on parade times? Halloween is coming.

More specifically, Oogie Boogie Bash is right around the corner, with its first after-hours event scheduled for August 17. That gives Disney California Adventure less than two weeks to prep for the hard-ticket Halloween overlay that completely transforms the park’s atmosphere, character lineup, and nighttime offerings.

Switching out daytime entertainment like Better Together is a logistical must when park crews are getting ready for things like lighting rigs, exclusive entertainment, and crowd control for special events. And with new additions this year—like the Oogie Boogie Bash VIP Tour—Disney needs the time and space to make sure everything is set up for a spooktacular debut.

What About “Wondrous Journeys”?

The nighttime fireworks spectacular Wondrous Journeys is also expected to pause around the same time. It’s still listed on Disneyland’s official calendar through August 9 with a nightly start time of 9:35 p.m., but no performances are scheduled beyond that yet.

When the parade and fireworks return remains a mystery. Disney has only gone so far as to say both shows are “pausing” for the Halloween and holiday season, with no guarantee that they’ll return immediately once the festivities wrap up.

It’s been a strong run for Better Together, a vibrant Pixar-themed parade featuring appearances from characters like Miguel (Coco), Joy (Inside Out), Mei Lee (Turning Red), Mr. Incredible, and even Luca. The high-energy music and colorful floats have made it a standout in this year’s anniversary celebration—and it will certainly be missed during the fall.

Fans hoping to catch it should plan to visit Disney California Adventure before August 3, just to be safe. With no sign of an extension and no word yet on its return, this could be the final chance in 2025 to experience Pixar magic parading down the streets of DCA.

Keep an eye on official updates—and maybe cross your fingers for a holiday encore once the pumpkins and snowflakes have had their turn.
