Some big changes are in the works for Disney’s thrilling Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, with a new permit sharing insight into the upcoming construction work. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is often regarded as one of Walt Disney Imagineering’s best works, blending immersive storytelling with an absolutely fun and thrilling ride experience. Simply put, the ride is lightning in a bottle, quite literally, with the attraction’s story centering around a group of people who meet their end by way of a stray strike of lightning.

The ride can be found all across the world, but passionate Disney fans often consider the original at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World to be the best iteration. However, Disneyland Paris gives this version a run for its money.

Disneyland Paris is made up of two theme parks, each one featuring iconic Disney rides and attractions as well as unique experiences only found at the European resort. Disneyland Park, which shares the same name as the original Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, has a plethora of classic dark rides like Peter Pan’s Flight and Pirates of the Caribbean while also featuring some thrilling roller coasters.

However, Walt Disney Studios Park is home to several thrill rides of its own, with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror being one of the park’s most popular. According to new permits, Disney is planning on upgrading a significant portion of the attraction, breathing new life into the queue.

Reconfiguration of the outdoor queue is beginning soon, with Disney filing a permit on February 7, 2024, as reported by DLP Works (@DLPWorks)

A new covering will be constructed for the outdoor queue line for the attraction. An official date for the beginning of this project has not been revealed, but guests can assume that changes will start taking place soon for the ride.

Disneyland Paris’s version of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is reminiscent of the now-defunct version that used to be located inside Disney California Adventure in Disneyland, featuring a more yellow exterior with a dome on top. The experience inside was also exceptionally similar, with Disneyland’s version turning into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! in 2017.

Disneyland Paris is currently undergoing some major renovation work, with construction walls set up across the entire resort. Several rides and attractions are currently closed, with family rides like Flying Carpets of Agrabah being completely dismantled.

Disney Village, the resort’s version of Downtown Disney and Disney Springs, is also undergoing a massive transformation, one that will bring several new locations along with it.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"

  1. Tommy Henderson

Tower of Terror is my favorite ride in all of Disney.

  2. Tower of Terror has always been my favorite ride of all Disney World rides! However, it was much better when the cast members were in full dress and acted spooky and tried to scare the people! That seems to have disappeared. We need to get the cast members back into their roles on all of the rides!
