Caught on Camera: Water Pours Down Into Lobby of Disney’s New Cruise Ship

Disney Treasure Set to Join Disney Cruise Line Fleet This December

The Disney Cruise Line fleet is about to welcome its latest addition: the highly anticipated Triton Class Disney Treasure. On December 21, this sixth ship in Disney’s growing fleet will officially set sail, joining the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and last year’s debut ship, the Disney Wish. But the magic doesn’t stop there—Disney’s seventh ship, the Disney Adventure, is slated to launch in 2025.

The Disney Treasure recently completed a remarkable 4,500-mile transatlantic journey from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to its new home in Port Canaveral, Florida. As part of the Triton Class, this ship promises an array of brand-new experiences, including the exhilarating AquaMouse water ride and Disney Tale of Moana, a Broadway-style musical adventure.

Guests can also enjoy live performances of Beauty and the Beast and multiple unique dining venues: Worlds of Marvel, Plaza de Coco, and 1923. At Plaza de Coco, diners embark on a multi-night culinary experience filled with the sights and sounds of Miguel and the beloved 2017 Pixar classic Coco.

The Disney Treasure‘s maiden voyage will feature seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, making it the perfect escape for Disney fans and adventure-seekers alike. Before setting sail, Disney Experiences (formerly Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products) hosted an exclusive industry event aboard the ship. However, things took a dramatic turn when a fire alarm triggered flooding in the atrium.

TikTok user @vincentvacations captured the moment, showing water cascading down the grand lobby:

Will #DisneyTreasure be able to sail today??? This is CRAZY! The number of fans needed is impossible to know.

Despite the mishap, the Disney Treasure received the all-clear to set sail. This isn’t the first headline-grabbing moment for the ship, though. While crossing the Atlantic, it played the role of real-life hero, rescuing four people from a sinking catamaran. Responding to a U.S. Coast Guard distress call, the Disney Treasure dispatched a small rescue boat to save those stranded aboard the vessel, aptly named Serenity.

On a more inspiring note, Disney celebrated the arrival of the Disney Treasure with the launch of its “Treasure Tomorrow” program.

“What better way to celebrate the Disney Treasure joining our growing fleet than with the launch of our ‘Treasure Tomorrow’ program,” said Sharon Siskie via the Disney Parks Blog. “This was created to inspire students in our homeport communities across Florida, The Bahamas, and throughout the Caribbean to discover a variety of exciting career paths and gain the tools to pursue their dreams.”

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
