Classic Jungle Cruise Closing Soon—Fans Won’t See It Again Until 2026

For fans of Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise, the clock is ticking. Disney has confirmed that the beloved attraction will soon close to prepare for its holiday transformation into the Jingle Cruise, and once that happens, guests won’t see the “classic” version of the ride until after the New Year.

A Seasonal Tradition

Each holiday season, the Jungle Cruise receives one of Disney’s most talked-about overlays. The Jingle Cruise dresses up the boathouse with decorations, renames the boats with festive titles, and equips skippers with a whole new set of holiday jokes. The overlay has become a seasonal favorite, but it comes with a trade-off: fans of the original version will have to wait months to experience it again.

This year is no different. A newly filed permit points directly to the upcoming switch. The paperwork, filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, details the installation of new signage at the attraction. While that may sound small, it lines up perfectly with the timeframe when Disney makes the Jungle-to-Jingle transition.

The Skippers’ Holiday Twist

Part of what makes the Jingle Cruise so popular is how it leans into the skippers’ personalities. The story goes that they’re homesick during the holidays, so they decorate their surroundings with mismatched ornaments, leftover packages, and hand-crafted holiday touches. Guests get to enjoy the same familiar river journey, but with a festive twist in both the scenery and the jokes.

Fans Divided

Not all guests feel the same way about the change. Some say they prefer the classic version year-round, calling it a Disney World staple that shouldn’t be messed with. Others argue that the Jingle Cruise is a highlight of the holiday season, giving them a fresh reason to ride. Either way, the closure has become part of the yearly rhythm at Magic Kingdom, and fans know to plan their visits accordingly.

When It’ll Return

Disney hasn’t released the exact date of closure yet, but history suggests it’ll happen in early November. Once the Jingle Cruise opens, it will run through the holiday season, wrapping up in early January. That means fans who want the “classic” Jungle Cruise won’t see it again until 2026.

So, while the announcement may sting for die-hard fans of the original, it’s also a reminder of how Disney keeps its traditions alive while adding something new. Whether you’re in the camp that can’t wait for the holiday jokes or the one that longs for the classic river voyage, the Jungle Cruise remains one of the most beloved attractions in Magic Kingdom—no matter what version is running.
