Construction Begins on New Advent Health Emergency Room Near Walt Disney World

AdventHealth has worked in collaboration with Walt Disney World on a number of projects for both Cast Members and Guests, and the company’s involvement with the parks and resorts has only deepened throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest update from the local healthcare facility came with the announcement that a new emergency room center would soon be built in Central Florida close to Walt Disney World, and construction recently began on the project.

WKMG ClickOrlando reported that the healthcare company had just broken down on the new facility near the Western Gateway entrance to the Walt Disney World Resort and Flamingo Crossings. Located closeby to hotels where many Walt Disney World Guests stay, tourist information centers, and Cast Member housing (including housing for students on the Disney College Program), AdventHealth plans to assist both visitors and locals with the new healthcare facility.

CEO of AdventHealth Celebration and Osceola Doug Harcombe told ClickOrlando, “This is all part of AdventHealth’s effort to reimagine vacation healthcare needs and of course, a lot of that care is going to happen right here at AdventHealth ER at Flamingo Crossings Town Center.”

The new structure will be joined by four other new AdventHealth locations opening within the next two years around Orange County, Florida. And, at 19,000 square ft., with 24 rooms available to patients, the new site will not only help with the healthcare needs of locals, Disney Cast Members, and visitors but it is also expected to create about 100 jobs.

The new AdventHealth emergency room facility is set to open at this location next year. In the meantime, Guests visiting Walt Disney World can have basic healthcare needs met at in-park first aid locations, and Cast Members have their own healthcare facilities (without emergency rooms, however) backstage.

AdventHealth is also the official care provider of Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, and is on hand for both runDisney participants and volunteers are race events as well as the Health & Fitness Expo that takes place prior to each event.
