Disneyland Park has become a hive of construction activity as the fall season approaches. Guests have noticed an increasing presence of barrier walls, restricting access to key areas of the Southern California Disney park.
The ongoing construction has raised concerns among visitors who anticipate a more enjoyable experience. The walls obstruct views and limit foot traffic to certain attractions and amenities, resulting in a feeling of confinement amidst the typically expansive park environment.
There’s no longer a “slow” season at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. Even with public schools back in session, many families and tourists are flocking to Disneyland Resort, resulting in congested areas where construction is taking place. These overlapping factors complicate scheduling and route planning within the park, leading to visitor frustrations.
TikTok user @jetterz3 recently shared a video of construction walls on Main Street, U.S.A., and in the newly-renamed Bayou Country area. They humorously remarked that these walls, initially seen as eyesores, have become “part of [Disney’s] Halloween decorations.”
@jetterz3 Small World is also down for refurb. Cant wait until the walls are down! #disneyparks #distok #disneyland @Disney Parks
However, not all guests share this lighthearted sentiment; the general frustration has been palpable, with comments expressing that construction ruins the atmosphere of enjoyment expected at the park.
“OH MY I WENT TODAY AND JUST LEFT BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS PRETTY MUCH CLOSED,” one TikTok user commented.
“Went the first day of Halloween,” said another. “I’m glad I did after seeing this.”
Major Construction Affecting Disneyland Park Attractions
The ongoing refurbishments in Disneyland Park include significant attractions that hold a special place in guests’ hearts, including the Haunted Mansion, which is currently showcasing its seasonal transformation as Haunted Mansion Holiday. Disney Park guests must utilize a Virtual Queue to ride this festive overlay as Imagineers are hard at work rebuilding the attraction’s queue and a gift shop area.
Adding to the complexities, the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to create further disruptions. This Bayou Country attraction will officially take over Splash Mountain on November 15, 2024. With construction for this major ride underway, anticipation and impatience blend as guests await its unveiling. While many are eager to see the new experience, the current closure of the adjacent Splash Mountain has left a noticeable gap in the roster of attractions available to guests.
Additionally, the “it’s a small world” attraction is undergoing refurbishment, compounding the inconvenience for visitors. All these changes culminate in a challenging scenario for families and individuals looking to maximize their Disneyland Park experience, particularly during the bustling fall season.
As families enjoy events like Oogie Boogie Bash and other seasonal celebrations, the rampant construction can detract from the overall atmosphere. Make sure to check Disneyland Resort’s website or mobile app before your visit to set expectations and prepare for the best vacation possible.

I really don’t think it’s bad planning it’s just they like everyone else are having to wait longer for supplies. We complain when things are not right and it seems like we are complaining more when they are working on making it right. We all want the same things, safe experiences that are magical.
