The Country Bear Jamboree is a classic Disney attraction, and while it might not have the same draw as an immersive ride like the Haunted Mansion or something more thrilling like Space Mountain, this opening-day Magic Kingdom attraction has a massive following and remains at the top of the must-do list for many Guests visiting Walt Disney World . Recently, Disney filed construction permits for work on the attraction, meaning there is potential for changes ahead at this favorite Disney Park attraction

The permits filed for work on the Country Bear Jamboree do not go into detail on the kind of work that will take place on the attraction, simply that it will “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” Construction permits do not usually detail much of what will actually be taking place, so with such limited information, it is difficult to know the extent of the changes that may be coming to the Country Bear Jamboree.

It is worth pointing out that a description as vague as this one could mean something as simple as behind-the-scenes updates that Guests will never see, or it could be a complete reimagining of the show. In 2019, rumors circulated online that massive changes would be coming to the Country Bear Jamboree, and the Disney Parks Blog was quick with this post to shut down any incorrect “news” floating around on the internet. Disney being so quick to act when internet rumors sprung up regarding the show leads us to speculate that if significant changes were coming, we would get an official head’s up.

The Country Bear Jamboree is one of Frontierland’s few attractions for the whole family, along with Tom Sawyer Island, as the other major Frontierland attractions are thrill rides with Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The show makes excellent use of Audio-Animatronics figures with a rowdy group of 18 bears playing their favorite bluegrass and country hits and a classic, Disney-style jamboree.

The show is also one of the last attractions that Walt Disney personally worked on with Disney Imagineer Marc Davis, though at the time it was being developed for the later canceled Mineral King ski resort rather than a theme park, and while we don’t typically see projects Walt himself worked on entirely updated, we cannot be sure at this stage what the intention of the permits is.

Whether it is just some backstage maintenance or actual work on the show, we will be sure to keep you updated as we learn more about the Country Bears, with Big Al, Teddi Barra and the rest of the Bear Band Serenade here on Disney Fanatic.
