Could Rachel Zegler Be the Next Ahsoka in the Live-Action ‘Clone Wars’ Movie?

Rachel Zegler has had quite the rise to fame in recent years, thanks to her breakout roles in the West Side Story remake (2021) and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023). But it’s her portrayal of the titular princess in Disney's new live-action Snow White remake that has made her a household name, albeit in a controversial way.

Released on March 21, Snow White has been met with a storm of backlash from audiences and critics and the film is also a huge box office flop. With a staggering production budget ranging between $240 and $270 million, Snow White has only earned $168.6 million at the global box office so far, which is a significant disappointment for Disney.

It's no mystery that the film faced several challenges throughout its production, starting with Zegler's casting as the lead. As someone of Latin descent, Zegler’s casting didn’t sit well with fans who expected a more “traditional” Snow White. The reimagining of the seven dwarfs, who were changed from actors to CGI characters, also stirred controversy.

Additionally, Zegler’s outspoken views on various topics, including her criticism of the original 1937 animated film and her political stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, only added fuel to the fire. But despite the film’s struggles, Zegler's name is in the spotlight.

Before becoming a household name, Zegler was far from a controversial figure. In fact, she was a fan-favorite for the role of a young Ahsoka Tano, the beloved Jedi from the animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. At the time, many fans on Reddit frequently suggested the actress for the part due to her strong acting abilities and youthful energy.

While, of course, Zegler didn’t land the role in the live-action Ahsoka series (2023), in which Rosario Dawson portrayed the adult version and Ariana Greenblatt took on the younger Ahsoka, there’s still potential for Zegler to play Ahsoka in the future.

As Zegler’s star power continues to rise, she could easily be cast in future Star Wars projects, perhaps in a flashback during Ahsoka Season 2 or a Clone Wars movie. While such a casting might not sit well with many fans, there's no denying that Rachel Zegler would be a great fit for the character, regardless of your thoughts of her latest film.
