Could Universal Orlando’s Big News Steal Disney’s Magic

May 22, 2025, marks a significant moment for Universal Orlando as Epic Universe opens its gates, bringing a wave of fresh excitement to the theme park world. This new park isn’t just about adding attractions; it’s about creating fully immersive worlds that could rival, or even surpass, Disney World’s offerings.

With lands like Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, it’s easy to see why this park has become the most anticipated opening in years.

Super Nintendo World is the crown jewel of this new park, with its unique split between Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. Fans can look forward to a variety of attractions, including the thrilling Mine Cart Madness coaster in Donkey Kong Country.

This ride is designed to mimic the chaos and excitement of Donkey Kong’s adventures, complete with “jumping” coaster tracks for a one-of-a-kind experience. Meanwhile, visitors can grab themed snacks and drinks at The Bubbly Barrel or shop for exclusive merchandise at Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy, a creative jungle market.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Super Mario Land brings even more excitement with rides like a Mario Kart attraction and a family-friendly Yoshi ride. Guests can also interact with characters such as Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, or take their adventure further with power-up bands that unlock interactive games across the land. It’s a level of engagement that ensures every visitor feels like a part of the action.

Outside of Super Nintendo World, Epic Universe has plenty more to offer. The How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk invites guests to explore a Viking village and interact with dragons, while Dark Universe immerses visitors in Universal’s legendary monster stories with cutting-edge technology and thrilling experiences. Meanwhile, Harry Potter fans will find themselves drawn to the Ministry of Magic, which brings another layer of magic to the park.

Universal has also thought ahead with the addition of the Stella Nova Resort, which provides guests with upscale accommodations and a convenient way to stay close to the park. Combined with all the new experiences, this resort makes Universal Orlando an even more enticing vacation destination.

This summer, Universal Orlando isn’t just welcoming guests—it’s redefining what a theme park can be.
