On July 26, 2024, The Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios released their newest — and first R-rated — superhero movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie starred Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Fans flocked to the theaters to see the antiheroes working together while driving each other absolutely insane. Deadpool & Wolverine is a massive hit, and in less than one month, it has grossed more than a billion dollars at the box office.

As a way to celebrate the movie’s success and give fans more Deadpool, Disney introduced the crass superhero to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland Resort. Deadpool made his Disneyland debut on the same day Deadpool & Wolverine hit theaters nationwide.

Since his DCA debut, fans can’t get enough of watching Deadpool ride out on his toy unicorn with NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” playing. They also enjoy listening to the story time hosted by Deadpool and his buddy Wolverine.

The person on the left, resembling Wolverine, is in a yellow and blue outfit with a mask featuring ear-like projections. The person on the right, looking like Deadpool, is in a red and black costume with a mask covering their face.

However, one recent story time had guests doing a double take and wondering if the Disney cast member playing Deadpool took things a step too far.

TikToker Kaitie (@gothgirl_doesdisney) recently watched the show, and she, along with the rest of the audience, was shocked when a cast member joked about reading the terms and conditions before signing up for Disney+. While some people in the audience laughed, there were also some audible groans and awkward laughter.

Joking About a Dead Guest

Kaitie said that she did not think Disney corporate would like that joke, and many commenters agreed with her. Many even thought that the cast member would be fired for crossing a very serious line.

If you are confused as to why the “joke” was not a joke at all, it is because the reference was being made to a woman who tragically lost her life at Disney Springs earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan was visiting Disney Springs with her husband and mother-in-law, and they decided to eat at Raglan Road Irish Pub. According to her family, Dr. Tangsuan had very serious allergies and spoke with the waiter at length to make sure her food was safe. After checking with the staff multiple times, Dr. Tangsuan enjoyed her meal.

However, just one hour later, Dr. Tangsuan was shopping with her mother-in-law in Planet Hollywood when she began to go into anaphylactic shock. She quickly administered her EpiPen, but it was too late. Dr. Tangsuan was transported to the hospital, where she later died.

Dr. Tangsuan’s family is suing both Disney and the owners of Raglan Road for $50,000.

Disney incurred the wrath of thousands when they tried to have the lawsuit thrown out based on the fact that Dr. Tangsuan’s husband had once signed up for a free trial of Disney+. Disney claimed that, when he read and agreed to the terms and conditions, he agreed that he would not sue Disney. Instead, any lawsuit would go to arbitration.

Disney received so much backlash that they withdrew their motion to have the suit dismissed because of the Disney+ terms and conditions. Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that Disney will waive its right to arbitration and will let the matter head to court. He said that Disney is taking the step in order to “expedite a resolution for the family.”
