The Walt Disney Company has unveiled exciting updates about its latest venture—the Disney Adventure, a new addition to the Disney Cruise Line set to debut in late 2025. Among the highlights is a record-breaking roller coaster based on Marvel’s Iron Man character, making waves as the longest roller coaster ever built at sea.

A recent Disney Parks Blog post revealed six standout experiences guests can look forward to aboard the Disney Adventure. The Adventure is slated to join the fleet following the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, which are scheduled for maiden voyages in December 2024 and November 2025, respectively. The Adventure is set to embark from Singapore on December 15, 2025, marking a significant expansion of Disney’s presence in the cruise industry.

One of the ship’s most exciting features is the Marvel Landing on the upper deck, where guests can dive into hero-themed adventures with three new attractions. As Disney puts it, visitors will experience “hero-sized fun,” starting with Pym Quantum Racers, which lets riders take control of Pym Tech-modified mini-cars as they zip around a track filled with oversized and undersized obstacles.

Another thrilling attraction is Groot Galaxy Spin, where guests can groove to “high-soaring feats and bass-boosted beats.” This new ride is part of a growing collection of Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attractions, joining Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disneyland Resort and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT in Walt Disney World.

The crown jewel of the Marvel Landing, however, is the Ironcycle Test Run, a roller coaster that will be the longest at sea, allowing guests to ride Tony Stark’s Ironcycle prototype on a high-speed, gravity-defying circuit. “Following a rapid-fire driving lesson from F.R.I.D.A.Y., you’ll push the new technology to its limits on a gravity-defying ride suspended up to 30 feet above the upper deck,” Disney says of the attraction.

The Ironcycle Test Run’s 820-foot track and vehicles seemingly takes inspiration from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the popular Tron Lightcycle / Run attraction at Magic Kingdom Park and Shanghai Disney Resort. This marks a major first for Disney Cruise Line, as it will be the company’s first-ever roller coaster, adding to the excitement surrounding this highly anticipated cruise ship.

The Marvel Landing also includes a sleek pool deck and bar inspired by Tony Stark’s residence, offering guests a space to relax between their superhero adventures. This area acts as a sort of floating version of Avengers Campus, which can be found at Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris.

Iron Man remains one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, largely thanks to Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From 2008’s Iron Man to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr. cemented Iron Man’s place in pop culture history. The actor is set to return to the MCU in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, where he will take on the role of Victor Von Doom.

Alongside the Marvel Landing, Disney Adventure guests will be treated to a variety of entertainment offerings, including Avengers Assemble!, a stage show featuring an epic battle scene displayed on a massive three-deck-high LED screen at the Disney Imagination Garden Stage. Other stage productions include Captain Jack & the Siren Queen and Mickey’s Color Spin Dance Party, ensuring there’s something for everyone aboard this immersive cruise experience.

Sarah Fox, Vice President and Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia at Disney Cruise Line, expressed her excitement for the Disney Adventure, stating, “Sailing on primarily three- and four-night voyages designed with only dedicated days at sea, the ship will include something for everyone. From fun and interactive spaces for kids, to relaxing venues for adults to unwind, to entertaining and engaging places for families to enjoy together, guests will find endless adventures from bow to stern.”

Originally known as the Global Dream, this cruise ship was acquired by Disney in 2022 and has since undergone a transformation to become the Disney Adventure. Bookings for the cruise will open on December 10, 2024, with sailing dates to be announced on November 14, 2024. Bookings for other ships, including the Disney Wish, are currently open.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
