Disney has announced a major transformation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one that is sure to stir emotions among longtime fans. A brand-new Monsters Inc. Land, Monstropolis, will soon replace the beloved Muppets Courtyard and its centerpiece attraction, Muppet*Vision 3D. Meanwhile, the Muppets themselves will find a new home by taking over Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, joining forces with “music’s biggest stars” for a lively new experience centered around a rock music festival.

A New Era for Monsters and Muppets

The new Monsters Inc. Land will bring the colorful and comedic world of Mike, Sulley, and their fellow monsters to life, offering fans a vibrant and immersive experience. However, the arrival of this new land means saying goodbye to a significant part of Hollywood Studios’ history.

Disney confirmed that Muppet*Vision 3D will close to make way for the new Monsters Inc. expansion. Yet, there may still be a future for the attraction’s iconic film. In a statement, Disney shared:

“We are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.”

While the Muppets bid farewell to their current courtyard, they aren’t leaving the park entirely. Instead, they’ll bring their zany humor and musical antics to the revamped Rock ‘n Roller Coaster. The reimagined attraction will feature the Muppets teaming up with “music’s biggest stars” for a high-energy rock music festival. This change offers a fresh spin on the fan-favorite coaster, but some Disney enthusiasts may struggle to say goodbye to the Aerosmith-inspired ride that has thrilled guests for decades.

Fan Backlash Likely

These announcements are already sparking heated debates among Disney fans. Both Muppet*Vision 3D and Rock ‘n Roller Coaster are deeply loved attractions with long-standing histories. Muppet*Vision 3D, in particular, is considered a tribute to the genius of Jim Henson, and its closure marks the end of an era for those who have cherished the Muppets’ presence at the park.

Similarly, the decision to replace Rock ‘n Roller Coaster’s Aerosmith theming with a Muppet overlay is likely to divide fans. The coaster is a staple of Hollywood Studios, and some guests may feel nostalgic about its original rock-and-roll vibe.

Disney assures fans that they still have time to enjoy both Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and Muppet*Vision 3D before the changes take effect. For many, this will be a chance to relive cherished memories and bid farewell to these iconic attractions.

As Disney moves forward with these updates, the company is balancing the introduction of new, immersive experiences with the challenge of preserving the nostalgia that keeps fans returning to the parks year after year. Only time will tell how these bold decisions will be received in the long run, but for now, the end of an era is officially on the horizon.

  1. I can agree with the Aerosmith change…… to a point. But Muppet Vision ???????????????????????? Has Disney LOST ITS MIND !!!!!!!!

  2. fk them.

  3. Muppet vision! Why! We always go to that in the parks, to put it on the coaster I won’t go on, that roller coaster scares me. I love the Muppet show. Rocking roller coaster can go but NOT a place for the Muppets.

  4. Muppet Vision is soooo much fun. Why give it up for Monsters Inc? There’s room over toward Star Wars base to put them there and leave the Muppets alone. We love the show and the characters and the AC. Muppets Rock and Roller Coaster? Seriously? Dr. Teeth is not the best of the Muppets. Animal is their greatest character. They’ll play the Muppets theme song or what… we shoot out to The Rainbow Connection? I happen to be a BIG Aerosmith fan. They began in my high school years and I’ve followed on this tremendous adventure with them. Not that I think they need replacing, but to go to The Muppets? You just lost my kids and any kid over 15 years old who thinks you’re adding a “baby ride.” You “can’t rock and roll to The Muppets.” My kids have decided Universal is geared towards them and Disney will be promoting this solely to Elementary and Middle School kids. My kids asked why can’t they do mixed music like on Guardians… some Aerosmith, Green Day, Linkin Park, Train… heck, Elvis… anything but The Muppets. Disney does NOT know how to rock and roll if they ditch Aerosmith. My kids say it’s like kiddie rides… the little boats circling on water, stationary motorcycles going around a track, a Tilt-A-Whirl and Scrambler are next. My kids and their friends will be at Universal instead. Oh and they WILL be spending $$$. Bad decision Josh D’Amaro and Imagineers. There’s no Muppet roller coaster that could ever fill the need for a TRUE and LOUD rock and roller coaster. You have one but you’re going for a bi breakdown in characters.
