Disney World Slashes Hours for Magic Kingdom From November 24 to 28

Thanksgiving week at Magic Kingdom Park will look a little different for fans of one Tomorrowland attraction. Walt Disney World Resort has trimmed the evening hours of the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor on four days and hasn't offered any explanation. The rest of the original Central Florida Disney park isn't affected by the change.

Disney updated the official operational calendar for the Tomorrowland attraction this week. On each of the following dates, the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor will close at 6:00 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, November 24
  • Wednesday, November 25
  • Friday, November 27
  • Saturday, November 28

On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, the show keeps its regular 9:00 p.m. closing time. Morning hours stay the same all week, with the interactive comedy show inspired by Monsters, Inc. (2001) opening at 9:00 a.m. That means it shuts down three hours earlier than usual on most nights.

Another Early Closure on the Calendar

This isn't the first closure notice of its kind. Just days ago, Disney announced that Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid would close at 7:00 p.m. on November 5. Walt Disney World Resort hasn't given a reason for either change in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland.

Possible explanations include minor maintenance or a private event. The Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor theater space is also commonly used for trick-or-treating during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, so special uses of the venue aren't unheard of.

The Christmas Party Question

During Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney gives the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor a holiday twist. The after-hours event begins at 7:00 p.m. on select nights in November and December, and it is scheduled for November 24, 25, and 27, three of the four shortened days. It's unclear whether the holiday-themed version of the show will still take place despite the early closure of the regular attraction.

Guests hoping to catch the show during Thanksgiving week should plan to visit earlier in the day. Checking the My Disney Experience app for the latest showtimes and hours before heading to Magic Kingdom Park is also a good idea.
