CEO Bob Iger is working at the Walt Disney Company after returning from his semi-retirement (a cushy position consulting for Disney as a side hustle), but apparently, the Disney CEO has still not had enough of his second turn as Disney’s leader!
Iger worked as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company between 2005 and 2020 before stepping down for retirement and seeing Bob Chapek take the Disney helm.
Unfortunately, Chapek’s time as a Disney CEO was fraught with bad publicity and debatable decisions that left Disney fans irate and led to his removal from the position.
Iger returned from retirement to oust Bob Chapek, and many Disney Fanatics were thrilled by the news. Disney’s stock began to rise, especially after Iger announced plans for some drastic cutbacks.
From 2024 to Infinity…and Beyond?
Now, according to a report from Twitter user @StockMKTNewz (who is supposedly sharing a statement from FOX Business), “Disney $DIS CEO Bob Iger is reportedly likely to seek a contract extension beyond his current one which expires in December of next year.”
As of right now, the Disney CEO who has been responsible for many layoffs within the Walt Disney Company (while padding his own Los Angeles home with $33 million renovations) is supposed to end his second Disney CEO stint at the end of the year 2024.

The Rumor Mill Spins Again
It is important to note that this Tweet does not have any specific links from FOX Business, however, so Iger’s attempts to extend his CEO contract are speculation for now.
Even though the source of this rumor is unconfirmed for now, Disney fans are making their opinions clear — and the majority seem to be supporting Iger, despite some recent negative press.
Iger Is “Never Leaving”
“Honestly I’d rather him take his time and find the right successor then just rush it like he did last time. If they need more time, take the time. Just get someone good in there,” one ardent Disney fan wrote on Twitter.
“A lot of things are in motion, probably best he stays until things settle and the right successor is found,” another Twitter user responded.
Another Disney fan joked that the Disney CEO was “never leaving at this rate!”
We cannot know the inner workings of the Walt Disney Company — so whether you like Disney’s returning CEO or you think that his mistakes have made him no better than former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, the fact remains that he could be back in his leadership position for years longer than expected if he wants to stay longer (and if Disney agrees to a contract extension)!
Would you like to see Iger stay in his position longer, or would you like to see more changes being made to Disney’s leadership?
