It is always disappointing when a favorite is under during your , however regular refurbishments to perform routine maintenance work are necessary for rides to continue to operate safely and smoothly. One that has been under for a couple of months now, : Legend of the at , was originally scheduled to reopen to this month, however, it seems that Disney has once again pushed back the ‘s reopening. Here’s what we know.
As recently as earlier this week, the Walt Disney World website noted that Expedition Everest was currently undergoing refurbishment, however, this page of the website also stated that it was expected to reopen in mid-April, which is obviously coming up quickly. Last month, one of our reporters visited the park and spoke with a Cast Member at the attraction who shared that the hope at that time was to get the attraction reopened around the Easter holiday.
A visit to Disney’s official website today confirms that the refurbishment no longer has any indication of when it will end. Typically Disney makes this change on the website when an attraction needs more time under refurbishment, and in many cases the ride opens just a couple of days later. This is often done when the attraction was already scheduled to reopen, though, so in the case of Expedition Everest, it seems either work is nearly complete and it will reopen soon, but Disney did not want to put down a specific date, or the work is expected to take longer so they did not want to list a specific timeframe anymore.
Wondering if the longer refurbishment means Disney is getting the infamous yeti out of B mode? It sounds a little more complicated than just extending a regular refurbishment, but if you are curious about what the deal is with Expedition Everest’s yeti, you may want to check out this post.
In any case, if you have a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort coming up soon, be sure to keep an eye on Disney’s website and the My Disney Experience app for attraction operating hours, and be sure to check back here on Disney Fanatic as we will be back with updates (hopefully on the reopening of Expedition Everest, soon!)
