Disney Forced to Open Attraction Early as Taylor Swift Attraction Draw Massive Crowds

Disney World doesn't adjust attraction hours lightly, but the Taylor Swift costume display at Walt Disney Presents has generated enough demand that the attraction now opens 30 minutes early for Early Entry guests. That's a pretty clear indication of how many people are showing up specifically to see outfits from The Eras Tour.

Walt Disney Presents typically opens at 9 AM with the rest of Hollywood Studios. It's now opening at 8:30 AM for resort guests with Early Entry access. According to cast members, this will continue at least through January when holiday crowds drop off. The costumes themselves stay on display until late January 2026.

The early opening started just days after the display debuted on December 12, coinciding with Disney+ launching “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour: The Final Show” and the first two episodes of “The End of an Era” docuseries. Long lines formed immediately, forcing Disney to respond quickly with extended hours.

Why Everyone's Lining Up

The display features three actual costume sets worn by Taylor Swift during The Eras Tour: the Karma bodysuit and boots from Midnights designed by Zuhair Murad and Christian Louboutin, the dress and boots from Tortured Poets Department by Vivienne Westwood and Christian Louboutin, and the iconic gold snake bodysuit from Reputation designed by Roberto Cavalli.

These aren't replicas. They're performance-worn pieces that millions of fans either saw in person at concerts or watched in various concert films. For Swift fans, seeing them in person represents a tangible connection to performances they've likely watched repeatedly. That's what's driving the crowds at what's normally one of Hollywood Studios' sleepier attractions.

Walt Disney Presents is essentially a walk-through museum about Walt Disney's life and career, with a rotating exhibit space at the end that typically showcases upcoming Disney projects. Most guests visit either because they're genuinely interested in Disney history or because they need air conditioning between rides. It's not usually a destination attraction.

The Swift costumes changed that calculation entirely. Now people are specifically going to Hollywood Studios to see the display, creating demand that requires operational adjustments Disney typically reserves for popular rides and character meet-and-greets.

Competing With Santa

The timing creates an interesting situation because Walt Disney Presents is currently hosting multiple holiday offerings. There's a Santa Claus meet-and-greet, continuous Christmas cartoon showings, and holiday displays featuring The Muppets Christmas Carol. So the attraction is managing crowds from both Swift fans and families wanting to see Santa during the holiday season.

These are pretty different demographics. Santa draws young families, while Swift costumes attract fans ranging from teenagers to adults who've followed her career for years. The overlapping demand from these distinct groups contributed to the crowding that made early opening necessary.

By opening at 8:30 AM during Early Entry, Disney spreads demand across more time rather than having everyone show up at 9 AM simultaneously. Resort guests get 30 extra minutes to see the display before general admission crowds arrive.

What This Partnership Means

Disney is using theme park space to promote Disney+ streaming content, which isn't entirely new but represents a more aggressive approach than typical promotional displays. The company clearly believes the Swift partnership is significant enough to warrant operational flexibility usually reserved for major attractions.

The fact that Disney adjusted hours within days of opening demonstrates how seriously they're taking this collaboration. If a costume display can drive this kind of response, it validates both Swift's cultural impact and Disney's decision to pursue these streaming projects.

For Swift, getting promotion through one of the world's most visited theme parks provides massive exposure. Millions of guests pass through Hollywood Studios annually, and even a fraction of those visiting Walt Disney Presents represents substantial awareness for the Disney+ content.

If the partnership proves mutually beneficial with strong streaming numbers and continued theme park interest, it could lead to additional Swift content on Disney+ or more elaborate park integrations beyond a single costume display.

Planning Your Visit

If you want to see the costumes with minimal wait, use Early Entry if you have access through a Disney resort stay or annual pass. Arriving at 8:30 AM gives you the best chance to view the display before crowds build at 9 AM.

The display runs until late January 2026, so there's time to plan a visit. Holiday crowds will be heaviest through early January, meaning visits after the first week of January should encounter lighter crowds even during regular hours.

The early opening is currently unofficial and could change based on demand, though cast members say it will continue through January. Check with staff at the attraction entrance for current opening times, as Disney might adjust the schedule when holiday crowds diminish.

The Swift costume display has turned Walt Disney Presents from a supplementary attraction into something people actively seek out during their Hollywood Studios visits. That's rare for a walk-through exhibit, and Disney's response with extended hours shows they recognize they're hosting content with genuine pull that requires operational adaptation rather than standard procedures.
