Marvel finally gave fans the update they have been waiting years to hear. After endless speculation surrounding White Vision and the future of Wanda Maximoff’s storyline, Disney+ officially confirmed the release date for VisionQuest.
The upcoming Marvel series will continue one of the MCU’s most emotional arcs while bringing several familiar faces back into the spotlight.
For Marvel fans who have followed Wanda and Vision since Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), this latest announcement feels like a pretty major moment for the franchise.
Marvel’s Disney+ Shows Became Essential Viewing
When Disney+ first became part of Marvel’s long-term plans, the studio immediately used the platform to push the MCU forward in important ways.
WandaVision (2021) started that entire movement. The series gave Marvel room to tell a slower, more emotional story while still connecting directly to the larger MCU timeline.
Soon after, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) explored Sam Wilson’s transition into Captain America, while Loki (2021) completely changed the direction of Marvel’s Multiverse storyline.
Marvel continued adding projects like Hawkeye (2021) and Wonder Man, proving that the Disney+ shows were no longer optional side stories.
But among all those releases, WandaVision still stands out for how deeply it explores grief, loss, and identity through Wanda and Vision’s relationship.
Vision’s Journey Was Never Finished
At the end of WandaVision, Wanda finally accepted that her recreated version of Vision could not survive outside the Hex surrounding Westview. The fake world she built collapsed, and so did the life she desperately wanted with Vision and their children.
At the same time, Marvel quietly left another mystery hanging over the MCU.
White Vision regained Vision’s memories during the finale before flying away and disappearing completely. The series never answered whether recovering memories also meant recovering Vision's emotional side.
That unresolved storyline connected directly to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), where Wanda’s grief and desperation eventually consumed her. Although the movie strongly suggested Wanda sacrificed herself, Marvel still has not officially confirmed her death.
Now, VisionQuest is stepping back into that storyline.
The upcoming series reportedly follows White Vision as he tries to understand what it means to truly become human again after regaining his memories. Marvel also appears to be continuing the larger story established in WandaVision and later expanded in Agatha All Along (2024).
Disney+ Officially Sets the Release Date
Marvel confirmed that VisionQuest will premiere on October 14, 2026, on Disney+.
The eight-episode series brings Paul Bettany back as Vision and also marks James Spader’s return as Ultron for the first time in over a decade. Marvel will additionally include several AI-related characters connected to Tony Stark’s technology.
The series will also feature an older Tommy Maximoff, better known as Speed, continuing Marvel’s focus on Wanda and Vision’s family.
Terry Matalas will lead the project as showrunner after receiving strong reactions for his work on Star Trek: Picard (2020). Marvel also assembled directors experienced in science fiction storytelling and character-driven projects.
Even this far ahead of release, VisionQuest already feels like a major piece of Marvel’s upcoming slate.
Wanda’s Story May Not Be Over
One reason fans remain so interested in VisionQuest is that Wanda Maximoff still hangs over the entire story.
Marvel never fully closed the door on Wanda’s future after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In fact, the studio carefully avoided directly confirming whether she survived or died.
That uncertainty continues fueling speculation that Elizabeth Olsen could eventually return to the MCU.
At the same time, Vision himself appears positioned to become increasingly important again as Marvel builds toward future films and crossover events.
After years of waiting to see where White Vision disappeared to, Marvel finally has an answer on the calendar. The next chapter officially begins in October 2026.
