Not every Disney addition comes with a major announcement.
Sometimes new experiences simply appear, and guests discover them while exploring the parks. That's exactly what's happening right now at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Visitors have recently started spotting Rafiki, Dopey, and Grumpy greeting guests near Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway as part of Walt Disney World's Cool Kids Summer celebration.

The appearances may seem like a small addition compared to a new attraction or entertainment offering, but Disney fans know that rare character encounters can quickly become some of the most sought-after experiences in the parks.
For character collectors, this is especially exciting.
Dopey and Grumpy are among Disney's most famous animated characters, yet they are not commonly available for meet-and-greets throughout Walt Disney World. Guests often have limited opportunities to interact with members of Snow White's famous group of dwarfs, making these appearances particularly appealing.
Rafiki brings his own dedicated fan base.
The wise mandrill from The Lion King (1994) remains one of Disney's most beloved supporting characters. Generations of fans grew up watching Rafiki guide Simba through one of Disney's most successful animated stories, and many guests still enjoy opportunities to meet him in person.

The characters are reportedly rotating throughout the day near Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Because the meet-and-greets take place outdoors, guests won't find a traditional indoor queue or permanently scheduled location.
That can create a little unpredictability, but it also adds to the fun.
Many Disney fans enjoy stumbling across unexpected character interactions rather than planning every moment of their day. These spontaneous experiences often feel more magical because they aren't heavily advertised or tied to strict schedules.
The meet-and-greets also support Disney's larger Cool Kids Summer campaign.
Since launching on May 26, the seasonal event has focused on providing additional activities for younger guests across Walt Disney World. At Hollywood Studios, that includes updates to Animation Courtyard, new entertainment offerings, and expanded character opportunities.

Disney appears to be making a conscious effort to balance the park's blockbuster attractions with experiences designed specifically for families with children.
That balance has become increasingly important as Hollywood Studios continues to evolve. While attractions tied to Star Wars, Toy Story, and other major franchises dominate attendance numbers, character interactions remain a key part of what makes a Disney vacation unique.

After all, guests can find rides in many places.
Meeting Disney characters, however, remains something special.
For families visiting Hollywood Studios this summer, it may be worth keeping an eye on the area near Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. You might arrive expecting to ride an attraction and leave with one of the most memorable photos from your entire vacation.
