A major Disney resort is preparing to turn away overnight guests.
Disney hotels rarely disappear from the booking calendar entirely. Refurbishments are typically completed in phases, allowing resorts to keep at least some rooms, restaurants, or amenities operating while construction continues elsewhere.
There have been notable exceptions. Disneyland Paris closed its flagship Disneyland Hotel for nearly four years, transforming the property with a new Disney Princess theme before welcoming guests back in 2024 (although it has since blocked non-hotel guests or those without dining reservations from the property).
Disney Hotel New York underwent a similarly extensive overhaul. The resort eventually reopened in 2021 as Disney Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel, with redesigned rooms, restaurants, artwork, and public spaces inspired by Marvel superheroes.
Permanent shutdowns are considerably less common. Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser welcomed its final passengers in September 2023, ending its ambitious run only 18 months after the immersive hotel first opened.
The latest closure is not expected to be permanent. However, Disney has not yet revealed when reservations will resume, leaving guests without a firm reopening date.
Disney Confirms Final Check-In Date
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will stop accepting new arrivals after October 10 as the resort prepares to close the entire property amid ongoing refurbishment work.
Guests already staying at the hotel will be able to complete their visits before the official closure begins on October 12. After that date, overnight accommodations and hotel dining will become unavailable until further notice.

The shutdown removes Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s flagship hotel from service and temporarily eliminates several of the destination’s best-known restaurants.
Enchanted Garden Restaurant, which hosts Disney character dining experiences, will be inaccessible during the closure. Crystal Lotus, known for Disney-themed dim sum and regional Chinese cuisine, will also stop serving guests.
Walt’s Cafe, the hotel’s upscale international restaurant, is included in the shutdown. The Grand Salon and the seasonal Sea Breeze Bar will also remain unavailable while the resort completes the work.
Disney has not announced whether any of these dining experiences will be relocated elsewhere during the closure. Guests planning visits after October 10 will need to consider restaurants inside the theme park or at Hong Kong Disneyland’s two other hotels.
Renovation work is already underway on the western side of the building. The current phase began in June 2026 and takes place daily between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Hong Kong Disneyland has warned that guests may notice noise or odors during construction hours. Until the full closure, room views are not expected to be affected, and the hotel’s primary facilities and services will continue operating.
Other Disney Hotels Remain Available
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel opened with the resort in 2005 and has long served as its most luxurious accommodation.
The 400-room property overlooks the South China Sea and features ornate Victorian architecture. Its design closely resembles Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World, another flagship hotel known for its grand lobby and turn-of-the-century styling.
Amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, landscaped grounds, a Mickey-shaped garden maze, character dining, and several signature restaurants. The hotel’s location also gives guests access to waterfront walking paths connecting the resort’s accommodation district.
Visitors will still have two official Disney hotels to choose from while the property remains closed.
Disney Explorers Lodge offers an adventure-focused alternative inspired by destinations across Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa. Its rooms, gardens, restaurants, and public spaces are divided into richly themed areas representing different regions and cultures.
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel provides a more playful take on classic Hollywood glamour. The family-oriented property features Art Deco influences, Disney character details, recreational spaces, and dining options within the wider Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
The closure arrives as Hong Kong Disneyland continues investing in its hotels and attractions following several years of expansion. In the past few years, it has added World of Frozen, its largest land to date, while starting work on a new Pixar experience and another Marvel attraction for the Stark Expo area of Tomorrowland.
