Guests staying at some of Walt Disney World's most popular Deluxe Resorts could be in for an unusually noisy night.
Disney has posted a warning at Disney's Yacht Club Resort informing guests that late-night fireworks testing will take place at nearby EPCOT. Unlike the park's normal nighttime spectacular, this testing could continue well past midnight.
For anyone hoping to get plenty of sleep before another long day in the parks, the timing is worth knowing.
Fireworks Could Continue Until 1:30 A.M.
According to Disney's notice, routine fireworks testing is scheduled from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, through 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2.
During that three-and-a-half-hour period, Disney says guests may hear sporadic fireworks.
That's much later than the usual fireworks schedule at EPCOT. Luminous The Symphony of Us is typically presented at 9 p.m., meaning guests staying around Crescent Lake are normally accustomed to fireworks earlier in the evening.
This time, the noise could continue for hours afterward.
Disney hasn't said that fireworks will continuously launch throughout the entire testing window. “Sporadic” suggests guests could instead hear occasional bursts at different points throughout the night.
Still, one unexpected boom could be enough to wake someone up.
Several Deluxe Resorts Sit Near EPCOT
The warning was posted at Yacht Club, which sits immediately next to EPCOT and is within walking distance of the International Gateway.
However, Yacht Club isn't alone.
Disney's Beach Club Resort sits directly beside Yacht Club, while Disney's BoardWalk Inn is located across Crescent Lake. Both are Deluxe Resorts that place guests extremely close to EPCOT.
Because of that proximity, guests staying at Beach Club or BoardWalk could potentially hear the testing as well.
Disney's notice doesn't specifically confirm that those resorts will experience disruptive noise, so exactly how noticeable the fireworks become remains to be seen. Weather, room location and the type of testing could all make a difference.
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin are also nearby. Although Disney's warning doesn't specifically address those hotels either, guests staying there may want to be aware of what's happening just in case.
An Unusual Night Around EPCOT
Staying close to EPCOT normally comes with some major advantages.
Guests at Yacht Club, Beach Club and BoardWalk can walk to the park rather than depending on buses. Their location also makes returning to a hotel after an evening in World Showcase particularly convenient.
On September 1, however, that same proximity could mean hearing EPCOT operations much later than usual.
Families with young children and guests planning an early start the following morning may want to prepare accordingly.
The good news is that Disney is providing advance notice rather than leaving Yacht Club guests wondering why they're hearing fireworks after midnight.
Just don't assume the night is over when EPCOT's regular fireworks end.
