A Disney Parks fan recently stirred controversy on social media after discovering a surprising price difference between men’s and women’s pajamas at Walt Disney World Resort. Amanda, known as @happilyamanda_ on TikTok, posted a video from Disney Springs that has since amassed thousands of likes, raising questions about what she called “the biggest ‘pink tax'” she’d ever seen.
While shopping in the World of Disney store’s holiday section, Amanda spotted a set of plaid Christmas pajamas in matching designs for men, women, and children. However, any excitement quickly turned to shock when she noticed the price tags: the men’s pajamas were listed at $39.99, while the women’s version was much higher at $59.99.

In her TikTok video, Amanda shared her frustration: “I have to show you guys probably the biggest scam I have ever seen in Disney, probably ever,” she said, highlighting the stark $20 difference between the men’s and women’s styles. The men’s pajamas feature Mickey Mouse embroidery with Mickey-shaped buttons, while the women’s have Minnie Mouse embroidery and round buttons, but Amanda couldn’t understand why these slight differences would justify a higher price.
The term “pink tax” refers to the idea that products marketed toward women are often priced higher than similar products for men. This practice can be seen in everything from razors to pens and now, it seems, Disney pajamas. Amanda’s video sparked an outpouring of comments from Disney fans and supporters, many of whom expressed outrage and disappointment at the perceived pricing discrepancy.
“It’s because the wife/girlfriend is the one most likely to want the matching set,” one viewer commented. “If the men’s one is cheaper, it’s easier to convince them to make the purchase because it’s a ‘deal.'” Another added, “Women buy it for $60. Men won’t pay more than $40. Disney will always charge as much as possible.”
However, some viewers speculated that the price difference might have been an error. On Disney’s official online store, both the men’s and women’s pajamas are listed at $49.99, and the children’s versions are $34.99 each. Price discrepancies between the Disney Store and Disney Parks pricing are not unheard of, though it’s unclear if this was the case here or if the difference was intentional.
So far, Walt Disney World Resort has not commented on the viral video or the “pink tax” accusation.
