The eBook is available as part of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar’s campaign to promote their work ahead of award season, and we are excited to give it a read and check out some of the stunning visuals behind one of our favorite animated films. You can check out a full digital edition of the book here.

Luca is a memorable coming-of-age story that follows the title character, who happens to be a sea monster, as he explores land in the late 1950s in the Italian seaside village of Portorosso. Along the way, he befriends Alberto and Giulia and joins the two to win the Portorosso Cup, with plenty of adventures along the way.

Disney’s art books make great gifts for art enthusiasts and are a wonderful way to learn more about how animated films were thought up and ultimately created. The books showcase some of the most unique pieces of concept art, color scripts, and storyboards images that went into creating the film, many of which cannot be seen anywhere else.

The Art of Luca and other Pixar art books are particularly interesting as the concept art inside shows the process of creating the film going from hand-drawn sketches to fully rendered animated characters, locations, and effects. Also enclosed in the book are chapters of behind-the-scenes details for creating the film plus interviews with some of the animators, artists and creators behind Disney and Pixar’s Luca.
