Disney Prepares to Completely Transform Two Iconic EPCOT Rides in 2026

Big things are on the horizon for EPCOT, and Disney fans are buzzing. The company just confirmed that two of the park’s most beloved rides will receive massive upgrades in 2026, marking one of the most significant refreshes in EPCOT history.

These aren’t minor adjustments—they’re complete transformations that will breathe new life into attractions millions of guests already adore.

Why EPCOT Keeps Evolving

EPCOT was built on the idea of change. Walt Disney himself envisioned it as a place that constantly improved—a park that celebrated progress and imagination. Over the years, that spirit has continued through projects like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the upcoming redesign of Test Track.

Now, Disney is focusing that same energy on two fan-favorite experiences: Frozen Ever After and Soarin’ Around the World. Both rides define EPCOT’s mix of emotion, technology, and storytelling—and both are about to get their most significant updates yet.

Inside the Magic of Frozen Ever After

Since its 2016 debut, Frozen Ever After has been one of the most popular attractions in the Norway Pavilion. Guests board boats and glide through scenes straight from the movie, surrounded by dazzling lights, music, and groundbreaking animatronic figures.

When it opened, Frozen Ever After set a new bar for realism in Disney rides. The animatronics utilized 3D-printed features and electric motion systems, enabling smoother and more expressive performances. Elsa’s wrist and hand movements during “Let It Go” looked incredibly fluid—like she was truly conjuring ice.

For nearly a decade, the ride has remained a cornerstone of EPCOT’s World Showcase. Now, it’s time for its next evolution.

The Frozen Update Fans Have Been Waiting For

In 2026, Frozen Ever After will receive upgraded animatronics modeled after the hyper-realistic characters featured in the World of Frozen attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. These figures move with stunning accuracy, capturing even the smallest expressions—from Elsa’s calm concentration to Anna’s enthusiastic smile.

While Disney hasn’t announced the exact dates, the new version is set to debut early in the year, likely following a temporary closure. Fans who love the current attraction might want to ride it one more time before its significant refresh.

A New Soarin’ Takes Flight

Over in The Land Pavilion, Soarin’ Around the World has been whisking guests across global landmarks since 2016. The gentle glider-style attraction creates the sensation of actual flight, featuring panoramic footage, wind effects, and immersive scents that make every scene feel authentic.

Next year, the experience is taking a new course. Soarin’ Across America will replace the current version, taking guests on a breathtaking tour of the United States. From the Grand Canyon to the bustling streets of New York City, the new version will showcase the country's beauty and diversity.

Disney confirmed that filming for the update is already underway. Patrick Warburton, the fan-favorite “flight attendant,” will return in the pre-show, and the beloved music and sensory details will remain the same.

What It Means for the Future of EPCOT

These upgrades prove that Disney isn’t afraid to evolve while staying true to its roots. EPCOT has always celebrated both innovation and imagination, and 2026 will bring both to life in powerful new ways.

By pairing modern technology with classic stories, Disney is ensuring that EPCOT’s legacy continues to inspire future generations. Whether guests are soaring through American skies or visiting Arendelle in sharper detail than ever before, one thing’s clear—EPCOT’s transformation is just getting started.
