Disney parks around the world are changing, and some classic rides are pausing or closing to make way for new experiences. One of the most famous train rides, seen as a symbol of Disney’s history, will stop running for a while in a park that has grown a lot since it opened.
This park opened in 2005 with fewer rides than other Disney parks. At first, many people thought it was too small. But over time, it added new areas like Mystic Point and Grizzly Gulch, and the popular World of Frozen land. These new attractions helped the park get more visitors and changed how people felt about it. The park mixes Disney’s classic charm with stories that fit local culture.
The Train Ride Will Close for Over a Year
The Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad, a train that circles the park, will close starting June 11, 2025. It will be closed for over a year so the park can build a new Marvel ride. This is the first time the train has stopped since the park opened.
The train isn’t just a fun ride—it’s a link to Disney’s past. Almost every Disney park has a train that goes around it, inspired by Walt Disney’s love of trains. The ride lets visitors relax and see the park from above.
But closing the train shows that the park is focusing more on new stories and popular movies. The new ride will be about Spider-Man and will replace a cancelled Avengers Quinjet ride in the Marvel section of the park. This area already has attractions like the Iron Man Experience and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!
Disney’s Move Toward Big Movie Franchises
This change fits a bigger trend at Disney parks. Classic rides are being updated or replaced by attractions based on famous movies. For example, Splash Mountain in California and Florida is now Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, while The Great Movie Ride in Florida has become Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Hong Kong Disneyland started small to fit the local visitors’ needs. But the park struggled with attendance for years because it had fewer rides and faced problems like economic slowdowns and the pandemic. New lands and events have helped the park become more popular again.
The Spider-Man ride is part of the park’s plan to attract more guests and add exciting new stories. While the train is closed for construction, the park is getting ready for a fresh chapter that blends popular Marvel characters with the unique feel of the park.
