We previously shared the news that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park will reopen on August 25, 2022. We’re now learning Disney is changing the “Fairy Godmothers” Cast Member title to be gender neutral.
Disney has been working on the “inclusive” key of The Walt Disney Company Cast Member program. We’ve seen changes such as dress attire for Cast Members being more relaxed, Disney removing the “boys and girls” speech from its nighttime spectaculars, and Cast Members being trained not to call Guests “Prince” or “Princess” based on their appearance.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort have updated their websites to describe the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience with “Where Fairy Tales Come True:”
“With the wave of a magic wand—plus a few hands-on tricks of the trade—our Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices will pamper and primp your child until they look storybook stunning. Children can choose a hairstyle then add makeup, nail color and accessories—even a Disney costume. Share the fun as your little one enjoys a resplendently royal head-to-toe transformation!”

Did you catch the change? As first reported by Streaming the Magic, Disney Cast Members at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will no longer be called the former “Fairy Godmothers in Training.” Instead, Disney will now call them “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices.”
This title change for Bibbdi Bobbidi Boutique Cast Members will allow staff to identify as male or female as they are all “apprentices.” Streaming the Magic notes, “This way cast members that might not identify as female can still be part of the process to dress up and style the children without having to refer to themselves as a female Disney character.”
When Magic Kingdom Park’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reopens in August, both the Disney Springs and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will remain closed.
