The Walt Disney Company just released its 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which outlines the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives along with environmental sustainability, and charitable giving. The report, which highlights Disney’s emphasis on inclusion, in terms of employees, Cast Members, and in all areas of the company, also came with the debut of a new website focused exclusively on social responsibility.
Disney’s new website, Impact.Disney.com already has loads of content on it, with information about the Walt Disney Company’s new diversity and inclusion initiatives, environmental programs, charitable giving, and responsible workforce operations.
In terms of diversity and inclusion, with a focus on Disney’s workforce, the new website highlights areas where Disney recruits employees and Cast Members from including Disney on the Yard, which partners with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Heroes Work Here, which focuses on recruiting Veterans to work at Disney Parks. This section goes on to showcase Disney’s commitment to accessibility, and in supporting LGBTQ+ Cast Members, and Guests– Disney did receive the top score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI).
Other areas of the site showcase the company’s charitable work, including initiatives with Make-A-Wish and other wish-granting organizations as well as through events and programming at children’s hospitals both locally in Central Florida and near Anaheim and across the country.
The “Impact Stories” tab shares individual instances of Disney’s work in social responsibility, with topics ranging from outlining the importance of getting vaccinated using favorite characters from The Muppets, to sharing the results of donations collected during last year’s annual holiday toy drive with Toys for Tots.
The new website also includes a link to download the Walt Disney Company’s full Corporate Social Responsibility Report, and it is loaded with details on everything from wish granting to funds allocated through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and more- Definitely worth a read for the Disney fan looking to find out about ways the Walt Disney Company gives back to communities.
The site is truly packed with content, giving information on everything from how the company works with Girls Who Code, the Disney Aspire program that covers tuition for Cast Members, and so much more, so we definitely recommend taking a look!
