In 2006, young actor Zac Efron shot to superstardom and became a household name to Disney fans around the world with the release of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. The movie starred Efron as Troy Bolton, a teenage boy who thought he knew what he wanted. That all changed when he met Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) at a New Year’s Eve party. His life is turned upside down as he tries to balance basketball with his newfound love of music.

After his starring role in High School Musical, Efron’s career continued to skyrocket, and he starred in a number of hit movies. He reprised his role two more times — in High School Musical 2 (2007) and High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008). He played Link Larkin in the remake of the cult classic film Hairspray (2007). In 2007, he also starred alongside the late Matthew Perry in the film 17 Again.
Most recently, he played Phillip Carlyle in The Greatest Showman (2017), Kevin Von Erich in The Iron Claw (2023), and Chris Cole in the Netflix film A Family Affair (2024).

It seemed that nothing could slow Efron down. But he recently found himself in a very scary situation while vacationing in Ibiza.
According to reports, Efron was staying in a villa on the Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea. On Friday, August 2, the actor was reportedly using the villa’s pool when he suffered a “minor swimming incident.” TMZ reported that Efron was found by two of the hotel’s employees, who quickly pulled him out of the water.

Mr. Efron was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure but was released the next day. We still do not know what the minor incident in the pool was.
Thankfully, it does not appear that the Ricky Stanicky (2024) doesn’t seem to have suffered from any lasting damage. One day after he was released from the hospital, Efron shared a picture of himself working out, along with a short message.

While he is able to find some time to take a vacation and relax, Efron is not slowing down. He is set to star in two upcoming films, which are both in pre-production.
He will star as Lance Dunkquist in the film Famous. Loosely based on The Prince and the Pauper story, Lance is constantly mistaken for a famous celebrity. So, he heads to California to make his acting dreams come true.
Efron will also star in the remake of the hit 1987 film Three Men and a Baby. At this time, neither film has more casting information available, and no release dates have been announced.
