Disney To-Do List: The Top 20 Things You Must Do Before You Go on Your Disney World Vacation

8. Make an itinerary for your time in the parks.

Based on the things you and your family have decided you really want to experience, make a “loose” itinerary for each day that you will be in the parks. Look at your dining reservations, and create your itinerary around those reservations. For example, if you have reservations for lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant at Magic Kingdom on the first day of your trip, it’s a good idea to plan that whole day at Magic Kingdom, unless you intend to park-hop. Then when it’s time to make your FastPass+ selections, you’ll know to make them at Magic Kingdom. Try to keep room on your itinerary for character encounters you and your family hope to have, keeping in mind that most of them do not have FastPass+ availability and that you will usually need to wait in line for them.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
