Disney World Allows Discontinued Service to Run, Airport Experiences Once Again Magical

Big news for Disney World travelers — you can stop lugging those suitcases around, because Disney’s Airport Luggage Delivery Service is BACK, baby! After a low-key test run, it’s now officially official, with signs popping up across Value Resorts and everything.

Here’s exactly what you need to know if you want to take advantage of it (and why your arms will thank you later).

A Quiet Comeback That’s Now Fully Out in the Open

It started in total stealth mode. Back in March, Disney was testing the return of their beloved Resort Airline Check-In — now rebranded as Airport Luggage Delivery Service — over at Pop Century Resort.

At first, there was NO signage, no big announcement, and guests only found out about it through good old-fashioned word of mouth (or, let’s be real, TikTok).

Fast forward to now: Disney’s made it OFFICIAL. New signage has been added to Pop Century’s lobby, the service has rolled out across all Value Resorts, and Disney even dropped a fancy new page on their official website to tell you how to use it.

Here’s How It Works (It’s Pretty Magical)

  • Staying at a Disney Value Resort (like Pop Century, All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, or Art of Animation)?
  • Flying Southwest Airlines out of Orlando International Airport?
  • Don’t wanna deal with dragging your bags all over creation?

You can now check your luggage at your resort BEFORE you even get to the airport! Just roll over to the Luggage Assistance desk, show your ID, and boom — your bags will be sent directly to your flight. You won’t see them again until you land back home.

Important Rules You Gotta Know

Before you sprint over with your suitcase, here’s the fine print:

  • You MUST be flying Southwest Airlines.

  • You MUST have already checked in for your flight and paid for any baggage fees.

  • You’ll need a valid photo ID at drop-off.

  • Once you hand over your bag, you’re not getting it back until after you land — so double-check you didn’t leave your charger or your Mickey ears inside!

Timing matters too:

  • Flights before 1 PM? Bags gotta be dropped off the NIGHT BEFORE.

  • Flights after 1 PM? You can check them in that morning — just make sure it’s at least 4 hours before departure.

Peep the New Signs!

Disney’s not hiding the service anymore. We spotted brand-new signage at Disney’s Pop Century Resort featuring the Southwest Airlines logo and a QR code that whisks you straight to the Airport Luggage Delivery webpage.

It’s clean, it’s official, and it makes finding the service so much easier than it was during the hush-hush testing phase.

The BEST Part? It’s FREE (No, Seriously!)

We know what you’re thinking — “How much is THIS gonna cost me?” Shockingly… nothing. Zip. Nada.

Despite Disney charging for other things that used to be free (cough Genie+ cough), the Airport Luggage Delivery Service is totally complimentary for eligible guests. Major win!

What’s Missing (But Could Be Next?)

Right now, this service only works for your DEPARTURE from the resort — not your arrival. And only Southwest Airlines is in on the fun (for now).

Also, don’t confuse this with the Magical Express days — Airport Luggage Delivery won’t drive you to the airport; you still have to get yourself there (via Mears Connect, Sunshine Flyer, or other transportation).

Still, this move is a small but mighty step back toward the extra magic we all miss. Could it mean other perks might sneak their way back too? Stay tuned — because Disney’s bringing the magic back, one checked suitcase at a time.
