Disney Cast Member Housing Dispute Turns Violent, One Resident Arrested After Late-Night Altercation

For thousands of Disney fans each year, the chance to work at Walt Disney World represents a dream come true. Programs like the Disney College Program bring young adults from around the world to Central Florida, offering them the opportunity to work inside Disney Parks while gaining professional experience behind the scenes.

Much of that experience extends beyond the parks themselves. Participants often live together at Disney’s Flamingo Crossings Village, a large apartment community near Walt Disney World Resort designed specifically for Disney College Program participants and other cast members.

The complex has become a major hub for Disney cast member life, offering amenities like pools, fitness centers, and organized social activities. For many residents, it serves as both a home base and a social environment where friendships are formed among people who share a love for Disney Parks.

But as with any shared living arrangement—especially in a community filled with roommates from different backgrounds and cultures—conflicts can sometimes arise.

Tensions Between Roommates Began With a Small Kitchen Disagreement

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Flamingo Crossings Apartments East in Bay Lake late on the evening of March 10, 2026, following reports of a disturbance inside one of the apartment units.

The call came in around 10:15 p.m., prompting law enforcement to respond to the apartment complex located at 12290 Sandpiper Landing Way.

Initial reports indicated that the situation stemmed from a disagreement between two roommates sharing the apartment. Investigators later learned that tensions between the pair had reportedly been building throughout the day before the situation escalated.

What began as a dispute involving the use of a kitchen stove would soon spiral into a physical confrontation inside the shared living space.

Deputies Respond to a Late-Night Call at Flamingo Crossings Village

When deputies arrived at the apartment complex, they first spoke with Sophia, one of the residents involved in the dispute.

According to Sophia’s statement to law enforcement, the confrontation began when her roommate allegedly removed a pan she had been using while cooking and placed it on Sophia’s bed in the shared apartment.

Sophia told deputies that after entering the bedroom area and discovering the pan on the bed, she was struck in the back with an unknown object. She stated that she pushed her roommate in response, leading to both individuals exchanging punches before separating.

Deputies then interviewed the other resident involved in the incident, whose identity was withheld under Florida’s Marsy’s Law, which protects the identities of crime victims.

Through a Japanese language interpreter, the victim provided a different account of the confrontation.

Authorities Say a Pan Was Used in the Alleged Assault

According to the victim’s statement, tensions between the roommates had been building earlier that day. She said that after moving the pan from the kitchen to the bedroom, Sophia became upset.

The victim told deputies that Sophia picked up the pan, which still contained food, and returned to the kitchen. According to the statement, Sophia then raised the pan with both hands and struck the victim in the face, causing food to spill across the kitchen and splatter onto the walls.

Deputies observed visible injuries on the victim’s face, arms, and fingers, including cuts, bruising, and swelling. Investigators also documented food stains on the victim’s clothing and food splatter throughout the kitchen area.

Photos of the injuries, the pan allegedly used in the incident, and the condition of the apartment were collected and entered into evidence.

The victim was treated at the scene by Orange County Fire Rescue and told deputies she feared for her safety during the altercation. She indicated she wished to pursue charges and was willing to testify in court.

Sophia later reported experiencing chest pain during the investigation and was transported to AdventHealth Celebration for medical evaluation before being taken into custody.

Following the investigation, deputies determined that Sophia intentionally struck the victim with the pan. Investigators classified the object as a deadly weapon when used in that manner.

Sophia was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm under Florida Statute 784.045 and later booked into the Orange County Jail system.

Disney’s Flamingo Crossings Village remains one of the largest cast member housing complexes supporting operations at Walt Disney World Resort. The community plays an essential role in housing Disney College Program participants and other operational cast members working across Disney Parks, hotels, and entertainment offerings.

Incidents like this are uncommon but serve as a reminder of the challenges that can arise in shared living environments.

For many participants, the Disney College Program remains a highly sought-after experience that offers the chance to live and work inside one of the most famous theme park destinations in the world.

Still, situations like the one reported this week highlight how tensions between roommates can escalate when disagreements occur inside close living quarters.
