Disney World Confirms Multiple Theme Parks Will Restrict Guest Access in Fall 2026

Walt Disney World has confirmed a series of operating hour adjustments across October 2026, with Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom each affected by private events, runDisney programming, or seasonal Halloween operations. Animal Kingdom remains the only park operating on a standard calendar throughout the month, with the addition of Extended Evening Hours for eligible Deluxe Resort guests.

Hollywood Studios: Early Closure on October 20

Hollywood Studios will close to regular guests at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, four hours ahead of its posted 9 p.m. closing time. Early Entry access remains unchanged at 8:30 a.m., giving standard guests a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. operating window.

The closure supports a private evening event from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. connected to the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2026, a corporate conference scheduled October 19 through 22 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

Alternative park hours on October 20: Magic Kingdom operates until 10 p.m., EPCOT until 9 p.m., and Animal Kingdom until 6 p.m., with Extended Evening Hours available until 8 p.m. for qualifying guests.

EPCOT: Delayed Openings on Two Dates

EPCOT will open at 10 a.m., one hour later than standard, on Friday, October 23, and Sunday, October 25. Early Theme Park Entry on both dates will shift to a 9:30 to 10 a.m. window.

Both adjustments correspond to Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend programming: the October 23 delay aligns with the Wine & Dine 5K, and the October 25 delay aligns with the half marathon event. EPCOT will register as the latest-opening park on both mornings, a factor guests relying on rope-drop strategy should account for in trip planning.

Magic Kingdom: Sixteen Reduced-Access Dates for Halloween Party

Magic Kingdom will implement an early exit requirement for non-party guests on sixteen dates in October: the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, and 31st. On each date, guests without a Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket must exit the park by 6 p.m., four hours prior to standard closing.

The ticketed event begins at 7 p.m. and includes its own entertainment slate, featuring Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular. Happily Ever After and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will not be presented on party nights, as both are reserved for the non-party operating calendar.

Overlap Dates: October 23 and October 25

These two dates carry the most significant scheduling impact of the month, combining EPCOT's delayed 10 a.m. opening with Magic Kingdom's 6 p.m. non-party guest exit. The result is a reduced operating window at both parks within the same period, limiting park-hopping flexibility for guests visiting either location.

Additionally, Extended Evening Hours will relocate to Animal Kingdom on Monday, October 26, corresponding with the conclusion of Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend and a post-race event held at EPCOT the previous evening.

Planning Considerations

With three of Disney World's four parks subject to hour restrictions at various points in October, and the operating calendar subject to further revision, guests are advised to confirm park hours close to their travel dates to avoid unexpected schedule conflicts.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
